Finally Got 1 Mbps / RS 990 Unlimited Plan from Wi5

After lot of fighting i got wi5 1Mbps plan installed just NOW :) Here are the result as of now :bleh::

Why is it showing as reliance broadband? i have no idea :S.

I never did any port forwarding but still getting green mark on utorrent....speed varies from 100kB/s-110kB/s on well seeded torrent.

Initially They refused to give the connection as my signal was low and they refused to give the "booster"....after 2 months of fighting with them they agreed to give the connection only if i was willing to fork out Rs1750 for this "booster"....My only other option was BSNL so i agreed :(.

the booster looks like this :

It sits on top of a 20 foot iron pole which i bought for Rs 400

Total cost was 1750+400 = Rs 2150

I took the 6 month offer as it will save me Rs1000 (installation charges)

Only time will tell how good this connection is for now i am keeping my fingers crossed :)

OT:Wi5 also has a 2 Mbps UL plan for Rs 2000.
 
They tried connecting at my house and didn't get enough signal strength so I left it... But they do have nice plans :)
 
sam is there some kinda POE btw that antena & your PC/laptop ?

just asking as I worked with such setups in past

You can pressure them to give the booster it will surely help you get better signal.

Yeah they call it "External CPE" it looks like this :

A thick cable connects the booster to the CPE.The connector alone costs Rs 500 they said.

AFAIK Mtnl do provides 1mbps wired connection at the same price .
Which isp is this? :S. I meant their website.

Wi5 - Welcome to true internet freedom

I got this connection for my brothers house in kanchipuram town (actually its not proper kanchipuram).

Yeah its Unlimited but you wont find it in the Wi5 site.

Anyone know why its showing as reliance broadband?
 
I'm looking for this kind of net at home.

I don't have any wired net option left in my area.

But,unfortunately this Wi5 not available in Kolkata.....:(
 
Though on torrents i get 100kB/s-110kB/s online gaming sucks....getting kicked out for packet loss every few minutes :(.
 
Just found this thread after some searching. There is only BSNL in my area with 350ish ping and I'm desperately searching for a low ping alternative :(.

Isn't 88 ms ping great for gaming?
