^ Nah its just Intel trying to push for it. Ultimately motherboard manufacturers are the ones adding on IDE ports via 3rd party controllers for the latest Intel chipsets - so they do know that IDE cannot be phased out completely.

Its just probably being reduced to a large extent much the same way as is being done with PCI slots now , but should be a while before they're completely removed :)

Even in the worst case scenario - you could always add a PCI IDE controller card to your setup!
QFT...

The IDE port problem is there with Intel only... The latest chipset by nVidia supports IDE ports... And i am sure so will the case with ATi's offerings...

do i need any drivers for this..
if yes then how do i install OS ?:bleh:
will do R&D and let you guys know about it...

Thats what I asked in the previous post , anyway do try it out and let us know :)

SATA ROMs attached to Sata ports handled by the generic XP drivers(that don't need any F6 drivers) will function exactly like an IDE one.

The only glitch I feel at the moment is to use the SATA ports controlled by 3rd party controller Chips like sil, promise etc for which u really need F6 drivers.
