Oh great ! Another $849 pentamirror DSLR. And even this DSLR cant AF with Nikons own pre AF-S lenses. Better to go for a K20D if you are in the US. Much better than this crap.

But when you go for a DSLR IMHO there are only 2 options seriously with good lens options Nikon and Canon....Sony , Pentax, Olympus and Panasonic don't have that much market share....

Ultimately you have to marry one brand :P as the lenses u buy stay and cam bodies change ....

I will one day get a DSLR when I think I am ready but until then I will keep jumping reviews between a Nikon and Canon cameras

Do you want lenses or market share? :) Do you want to spend buckets on VR lenses or on a range of lenses?

Ah well. It's upto you man, but don't ditch the rest just for reasons like "market share" - some of the best products come from the smallest companies, while the biggest companies have the best marketing.

Best marketing is not always equal to best product. Remember that. Canon/Nikon will almost never put in-body stabilization in their camera bodies due to the vast line-up of VR lenses. Sony/Pentax will always have it.

As for the D5000, the only reason to like it is the articulating LCD but the biggest reason to hate it and never buy it is the lack of in-body focus motor and exposure bracketing. Any camera which does not focus 50mm primes should not be bought.

Cheers!

Payne

PS: I like Canikon but hate them for chopping off features and handicapping their entry-level SLRs. There are a ton of things wrong with my Alpha dSLR but still it's a complete camera.
