Firefox problems.... newbie to FF

Nikhil

Explorer
I recently downloaded FF and started using it. I downloaded the tabbed browsing plugin/extension(whatever you wanna call it)

And since then a part of the FF window is being wasted Look at the bottom of the screenie.

What do I do to get rid of that??

And when I type in an address in the address bar, it is not stored inthe dropdown list. I have to type the site everytime. It gets DAMN irritating....

1. Seems that the extension is not installed correctly re-instal the same.

2. Goto => Tools => Options => Privacy => History.

Run in safe mode of FF> Uninstall the extension> install it again...

And regarding retyping... what are boommarks for :S

ok guys, thanks....

things working fine now.

But tabbed browsing still not working perfectly. If I click on any link, it open in a new window just like IE.

But that I guess is because I uninstalled the tabbed browsing extension. Will install that again and give it a try....

ok.. u can try these,i am not sure though....its most definitely a conflict b/n the extensions..

try the key combination CTRL+Shift+S to toggle the statusbar.

or

- drag the toggle toolbar icon back to the navigation toolbar panel
- click on it to toggle all the toolbars back

no no no... open up extensions and click on tabbed browsing and then look in options...

You kids... will have to teach ya everything :bleh:

I tried reinstalling the Tabbed browser extension but no go :(

And links are still not opening in the tabs...

any other link or something to download that particular extension??

^^^ exactly. What is this tabbed browsing extension? I don't have anything like that. I always use middle click to open any link in a new tab.

The tabbed browsing extension offers a little enhanced functionality, that's it. For instance there's mouse focus—you just place your mouse over a tab and it gets selected, though I found it quite bothering.

Well, some sites do open a new window by force, and it can become annoying at times ...

Anyway there is a way to do this without extensions, open a new tab and type about:config , and change these entries to true -

browser.tabs.opentabfor.windowopen
browser.tabs.showSingleWindowModePrefs

If the don't exist, create boolean variables of these names and set them to true.

Now, go to edit > preferences > advanced and set the option "Force links to open new windows in" to "a new tab".
