Yes ladies & Gentlemen hit your drums and gear up for the battle!!!
Let's put the pro's and con's together here.
Which do you prefer and why, and especially why did you choose your current one and not the other option?
Give the facts!
Flame is allowed on browser level and not personal level please.

Here are my Facts yes ladies & Gentlemen Facts and not an opera soap

1.Firefox is faster then Opera at surfing/startup and you can make him even faster by using tweaks/ system try extension that runs in the backround like IE.

2.Opera uses more memory ram then Firefox sometimes to 70MB.

3.Firefox page display is far more superior then Opera,Oprea has rendering problems and error report page's.

4.Download manger with many options, again far superior to that of Opera.

5.Great extension's on Firefox,no where to find on Opera.

6.Themes to all tastes and colours.

7.So many other features that can't come to my mind right this second.

I made these conclusions after testing(using) the difference between the 2 browsers...all i can tell you is that you wont be better with Opera.

So what's yours?if you have any stronger then the ones mentioned above....

I was using IE6 all the while. Once FF was released and looking everyone saying so many good things about it, I thot of giving it a try. I had tried Opera and some others b4, but it was the ease of use of FF and its similarity (looks and ease of use wise) to IE that made me switch to FF completely. I cannot compare Opera n FF coz i have hardly used Opera. (One more reason why i didnt use Opera that much. THere was this toolbar to the left whichwas quite annoying. THe lazy ass that i am, i never bothered to go to View>Panel> and then uncheck that annoying side bar. perhaps that and the ads displayed on top are why i didnt use Opera that much.)

Well, just a couple of hours back i saw FF using 260MB of my RAM. Perhaps it was b'coz i opened a page with too many pics. That page when saved, took 23MB of my HDD space :)

1. Firefox using less memory..

ffrulez9fx8nt.png

This was taken with one window and one tab only...

2. Gmail crawls with opera, and some sites like hotmail (junk mail deletion dont work) google maps etc..

3. And Firefox is good while posting at forums and BBcode thing works fine with FX.
when i need to bold up or put some color to the text all i have to do was select the desired text and and apply the affect..., that dint work in opera...,
just see the color dropdown box.
See that we can actually see the colors and in addition, we can also select and add effect, which i find simpler in FF.

and with the BBcode extension, my job is more easier!

NOT AGAIN!!!!!
Opera is better because

1.You don't need to go looking for extenions.Come loaded with virtually everything essential.
2.It is much faster than FF(Test Proove it)
If you dont belive the test that is commonly available see this

http://www.24fun.com/downloadcenter/benchjs/benchjs.html
It is a site where people come and test their browser speeds. The fastest speeds recorded are on Opera.(Allthough fewer people use it)

1 quiris, Opera 8.0, Windows 2000 Server, 3.40-3.59GHz 3.81 seconds, March 17, at 13:33:02

3. Opera uses lesser Memory for me
4.Opera has Page Zooming(which resizes images too)
5.It allows you to eliminate horizontal scrolling.WHich is the most irritating thing while reading your favourie journal.
6.Text to speach to read aloud the web page and also Voice Recognition.
7.A very good email client called M2.
8.Very handy magic wand
9.Opera show to make presentations.(Now you dont need MS Powerpoint which costs hell)
10.Inbuilt full fledged RSS feed manager.Live bookmark isnt really a complete rss feed manager.
11.A download manager which is better than FF's

Overall life is a lot easier with Opera

Now someof your allegations
1.Opera v8b2 supports google maps fully. It supports gmail too.It is just that google is discriminating against it.Use nobrowser check and gmail would work.
2.Opera is also fully skinable
3.Opera v8 allows u to hide the Left bar via a click. It has been made slidable.Which is very handy.
SO i maintain that FF is good,Opera is better.

ff is good for the out of the box cafe installations.
opera for the power user.

Things like differences in page rendering speeds (always not more than -/+ 1%) and memory footprints (opera uses 700k more blasphemy!) or download managers (can't beat 3rd party managers, why try) shouldn't influence a user.

What opera has for me is a perfect tab independant image toggler (invaluable on 56k, I can open multiple tabs each with their own image settings).
None of the ff extensions I tried could manage to be even usable in this task.

ff doesn't allow to turn off plugins as well, and you need extensions even for basic tasks like disabling .gif animations.

opera's pop-up blocker is more robust then ff's.
Only thing needed is an inbuilt adblocker for opera.

The one thing against opera is that it's adware unless you can help it.

Firefox, isnt bad, but Its opera for me ...

1. Light - it uses much less processing power, so runs faster on lower processor (haven't seen anything lighter apart from dillo :P)

Though opera has more features than firefox, its resource usage is better, it only keeps what you are using in memory, things like the mail client, irc etc aren't loaded till you use them.

2. Helluva lot of features, and as I said, good resource management keeps it light still, while firefox would be real slow with lots of extensions installed.

All in all, Opera > Mozilla > Firefox > IE

Opera has more features , and i have found it to be faster in displaying pages than FF in general , and the most needed extensions of FF are built right into opera , features like open links in tabs instead of new windows (_blank frames) and user agent switcher requires a extensions in FF are built into Opera , All said and done i like the feel of FF more than opera (may be i have gotten used to it) :P :P

Hmmm... most of the extension are very small in size and the largest extension is 300kb big (tabbed browsing preference). We can actually ad whatever extension we want and there there are FX downloads which has all the good extensions u will need. U urself posted those.
Also many mag like digit and chip also add them in their DVD/CD so that will save us from those mega downloads.

Hmm...that test is a cr@p..., they tell IE is faster than FX, would u believe it? :@

Also these test are region based and the same will not be the same here in India.
The speed varies +/- 5% only.
Well speed should not be the issue for those who are on broadband

Hmmm, i posted a screenshot of the same showing the memory usage in my system.

These page resizing thing has effect on the images and the text that are displayed..., the quality will not be good , in the case of image and text's will be so small sometimes we can hardly read it.

Indyan said:

Hmmm..., most of the porn sites have these horizontal scrolling, and a really good designed sites wont have these...and u go to porn sites and tell ur favourite journal??? :P
As i have said, it will affect on the image and text quality.

text-to-speech capability can be added to firefox too...
FoxyVoice extension.

Even with FX we can use thunderbird, which is very good and only next to MS outlook, IMO. It's worth the download.

Indyan said:
Very handy magic wand
Even FX has password managing tool and also we can use third party tool for the same.

Hmm.., my MS powerpoint is XXX and maybe we can get it preloaded in case we have a branded PC.

hmmm, it has a extension which has a RSS feed manager thing... , as for the live bookmark thing , u can see corny's screenshot posted many times (i dont use it.)

Indyan said:

We can tweak them..., also we can use a thrid party download manager, which is not the case for opera.

Hmm, do u know how much download manager extensions are there with FX?

Hmm, it not my fault or ur fault that google discriminated opera..., and it would be use a browser which is compactible with all this...rather than waiting for opera to support all these.

Who told u it cant be done in FX, it can be....
