PC Peripherals Firewire confusion

Was planning to get an Acer ION Box from the states. But the lack of a firewire port has been bothering me from buying the box. The reason i need a firewire port is for transferring video from my age old DCR HC-90 video cam. Is there anyway i can add a firewire port externally through some hack ?

Well thanks for the reply, but there are no expansion slots in the ion box. Anyway will figure something out.

The description of this product makes it sound like you can use it to convert and connect a firewire device to a usb port. This is not the case. When the product arrives, it says right on the package that it can only be used to connect usb to usb or firewire to firewire. I haven't used it because it is basically useless. A bulky set of cables that doesn't allow any inter-connectivity.
