It will have two screens one Eink and other LCD like the Ipod Touch.

Cant wait to see it in action.

Here comes the competition for Kindle, as this will be cheaper than the Amazon device.

PS - Here is a live action pic

Nice!

I really do hope that that this one is cheaper than Kindle. But my questions about buying any ebook reader remain. While I am all for shifting to e-ink and saving trees, what do I do with the almost 2000 books lying in my house already?

I am sure none of the ebook providers will consider that I already have the physical copy of the books and give me an electronic copy free of cost. So if I have to buy all my books all over again, it won't work out to suit my pocket, would it?

It was launched today ,it is callled "Nook" as in Not a Book , looks amazing , but costs same as the kindle 2. Lets see what ppl feel about it

The war of the Ebook Readers has started !!

OK, this one supports lending of books between friends. Does this mean I have to pay something for this convenience? I buy one book, read it, and then I want to share it with my girl friend on her Nook, is it even possible? If it is, then no two ways about it, I will readily miss out on the Tex-to-Speech feature and buy this device.

B&N probably has the largest collection of books in their store, and if they actually make all those books available in digital formats, then this could very well be the Kindle-Breaker.

Also it is Android based, so we can expect some sort of mods and hacks pretty soon.

Pretty feature packed device for the price mentioned.

Lets wait for some reviews.

But my dilemma remains the same, what do I do with the 2000 odd books that I own already? I won't get free digital copies of my books would I? :P

I guess I will have to do what the famous Mr. markettantrik (IVG) does. Stick to ebooks for general stuff and only buy hard copies of Graphic Novels and Art. What say you my friends? I really need your help on this big issue in my life right now.

EDIT: The lending feature is there alright. Acording to CNET, you can lend any book to your friends for a period of 14 days. IMO that is a hell of a lot of time for anyone to go through any book! Nice going B&N!

EDIT 2: Oh crap! "Some books will be lendable and others are not, per the wishes of the publisher." Why? Why?

More crap!!! "Lending works similar to in the physical world. If you have lent a book to someone else, you don't have access to it while it has been lent."

I guess lending would be at the whim of the publisher, but if ur GF also has a nook u wont need to lend her book , u can just exchange ur nooks

As for the old books u have , better sell the ones for whom u can get the Ebook.

I gave away literally 500 casettes when i got CDs in the late 90's and givng away all my CDs now that I have 3 MP3 players.
