Avg. Input Lag has been pegged to be 20.6 ms. Not bad but not good enough as I only expect this figure to increase in subsequent reviews, but still better than the 2408WFP A0.

LG Display (LPL) showcased a number of new LCD panels and technologies at CES (yes, I know, that was a very long time ago) and one of the more interesting things that I saw was the company’s shift to lower-cost IPS (In-Plane Switching) technology. IPS is known for very high levels of color fidelity at wide viewing angles and is incorporated into the best LCD monitors out there (e.g. Apple). The company’s 23″ e-IPS TFT LCD panel geared for LCD monitors is touted as having the same price as TN (Twisted Nematic) LCD panels. As you might already know TN LCD panels sport fairly fast response times (about 4ms) and is integrated into really affordable LCD monitors. Watch out TN, here comes e-IPS!

e-IPS is a detuned IPS LCD panel that makes it much less costly to manufacture but as you can see the performance hit is nowhere to be found: response time is a respectable 6ms (GTG), contrast ratio is a very good 1000:1 and the viewing angles are 178/178. Brightness is a tad low at 250 cd/m2 but definitely bright enough for LCD monitor work.

Dell’s 22″ LCD monitor, the 2209WA, seems to be sporting a 22″ e-IPS LCD panel. The AU$459 (₨ 22,490) MSRP of the 2209WA translates to about US$305 (₨ 14,940). That certainly isn’t going to win the cheapest 22″ LCD monitor award but hopefully it’s just Australia having higher prices for electronic goods. Let’s hope we get some really nice and low-priced 23″ LCD monitors in the pipeline soon. Anyone know if there are LCD monitors already out there that sport LPL’s 23″ e-IPS LCD panel? If you do, please post and let everyone know.

If you didn't know this, LG manufactures all IPS panels. So it appears to confirm expectations that Dell's 2209WA is manufactured by LG. Also, since LG showed 23" 1080p e-IPS panels at CES, Dell may be hiding a 23" e-IPS 1080p 16:9 panel in its arsenal. Something which would put everything else to shame ;)

From a pure gaming perspective , how do the response time and input lag on this LCD compare with others in the market?

Particularly the BenQ E2200HD as I have almost zeroed in on it.

Just to let everyone know, I`m not too concerned about the height loss on the BenQ as all I need is fast zero motion blur dispaly to play crysis with AA and AF.
I am buying a HD4850 card shortly.

monitor looks good but on spec's side is not so...

it has 1680 x 1050 reso not full HD :(

6ms response time...again low for some people

no HDMI :|

no 1:1 scaling ratio

my sp2208wfp is much better....

has all mentioned above and even has 2 ms response time :D

Lol, not all of them would crib for the full-HD resolution on a pitiful 22incher!! :p

If it has to be full-HD, get a 46incher (or above) 1080p plasma/LCD and view it. :bleh:

And a DVI-to-HDMI converter is available for cheap these days.

And the SP2208WFP has a glossy screen compared to the matte one on the 2209WA, which's well, much better and has an IPS panel. So there's no comparing the 2 of them. ;)

Well, the 2ms response time, I hardly doubt if u could figure out the difference between a 2ms and a 6ms (?) gtg on the display.

I'm surprised Dell's offering it at a very decent pricing (17k?) :O

Dude, I thought 2209WA > sp2208wfp. Isnt the WFP also priced lower?
If what you are saying is true what is the point of this new panel?

@gunman

but no 1:1 is still downside :(

and if news is right then it has 1000:1 contrast ratio ? :O

and i dont have any problems of glossy screen...infact glossy looks much better in sense that whenever people come at my place they always ask me did u buy new monitor ? :p
