Hi everyone

Am a newbie who just joined this site

I will be going to SP Road in Bangalore for the first time to buy some computer parts but I am a foreign guy so am getting worried

I need some advice from you guys!

Plz Tell me:
Which shops to go in SP Road?
Which shops to avoid?
Is SP road really the best place to get pc parts for a reasonable price in Bangalore?
Will I get proper warranty and service for the parts I buy there?
Are the prices fixed or I can get some bargains?
If they call a price, does it include the tax? or they sum up all the prices and add the tax in the end?

Thx in advance :eek:hyeah:

Plz Tell me:
Which shops to go in SP Road? Ankit, Golcha, they stock some noteworthy stuff. Honestly speaking SP road is 10foot wide road and abt 150m and maximum 25 teeny weeny shops, so u can vist everyone. ALL have same distri. Some will quote 100 bucks more other less:)
Which shops to avoid? Everyone will take u fora ride if u dont knw wht u are buying and for what price, plz do some searching
Is SP road really the best place to get pc parts for a reasonable price in Bangalore? YES:(
Will I get proper warranty and service for the parts I buy there? YES, if u keep the bill and warranty card.
Are the prices fixed or I can get some bargains? THere is no fixed price in INDIA.
If they call a price, does it include the tax? or they sum up all the prices and add the tax in the end? Price + VAT @ 12% or 14%

would suggest u checkout ebay.in for a rough quote before going there..it will be much less than ebay!.

if ur a foreigner and they know theyll con u for sure, ive been there a 100 times and they still con me!!

i am going there tom again.

I like bangalore computers the best, theres a new store there called Railton computers(one of the lanes on the left)..he gives around 1000 bucks on a quote of 22k in other stores cos his store is new and a little inside the lane.

generally what i do is, go to some known guy like ankit/golcha/bangalore comps...take a quote and show other guys for discount..keep showing and finally u'll end with up with a good discount :D

About warranty, unfortunately they dont help much, despite the sweet talk!

U'll have to contact the distributor directly, they just tell stuff but after service sux big time..they dont care much after u buy!

About tax..they might add 4% VAT and if u pay by card another 2% on the cost, however what ever happens u dont accept the VAT price, finally they'll adjust and reduce the VAT from quoted price.

dont worry at all.....all the shops r more or less same....only advice is if u r buying a full system....try to get a quote/estimate from as many shops u can...but be sure what u want to buy....if u r not sure they may try to push for old stock....frankly speaking barring a few shops(as mentioned above).....nobody will have all the items u want....its a kind of chain system...just a phone call....n the stuff is delivered to the shop...so be specific....even a 5ft by 2ft shop can deliver all the stuff....

no problem with warranty ...u have to keep the bill n the box...most of the major brands have their service center....so far i'vent faced ne problem....

the price is always Rs X + 4% vat.....(i'm sorry to say Gowt1ham....there is no 12% or 14%...its always 4% vat).....they usually add up the individual component...and add 4% vat on it...its simple....try to bargain while they mention the individual price(for ur reference u can always use the bunch of estimate price list sheets....)....but i'll advice u....always buy with bill...with the vat.....some service centers always demand a bill.....so its necessary....4% vat does't make much of a diff.

ne way that's it pretty much......and for individual component....its very simple....buy from the lowest quote....n some bargain tactics.....its fun....u'll love it....so in a jest...be specific, what u want to buy....(sometimes few shops give good suggestion)...visit as many shops u can.....so for that u've to devote some time....never be in a hurry....

for price reference u can visit http://www.deltapage.com/

enjoy n happy purchasing.....n happy diwali too

regards...

Few corrections :)

There is no warranty card for any computer pheripherals - Bill would be enough for any RMA, for some products (like Seagate) serial number would be fine

VAT is at 4%

Generally, most resellers will give you the final price incl VAT, but clarify if their price is a little less

As others suggested

Open a thread listing out whatever products you want to buy - get some TE folks recommendation on it and get an idea on the street prices

Visit - www.deltapage.com to gauge the current prices. Its a store at Chennai and they keep the prices regularly updated ( SP Road prices wont vary much)
