Yea looks like an old iPhone from the front and totally dull at the back :D

Specs are cool though.

actually i thought it was a pretty good looking phone!! the back looks so UNSAMSUNG!!:bleh:, finally samsung seems to be moving in the right direction in the build quality....specs are pretty impressive...now can nokia still steal the thunder???

What confounds me is how/why Samsung announces the first WP8 phone instead of Nokia who's supposedly Microsoft's main partner in crime.

Also really disappointed that MS launched their Surface tablet instead of something from Nokia which I was expecting to happen... (Surface looks very cool though)

Brushed metal finish looks really good! And exactly my thoughts as well - rectangle with round corners

Also really disappointed that MS launched their Surface tablet instead of something from Nokia which I was expecting to happen.

The reason given by both MICROSOFT and Google for the release of these devices -- Surface and Nexus 7 Tab was the simple fact that most of the companies that have been doing Android and Windows Phone OS devices (tablets) were messing up royally on the hardware front, the software according to both leviathans was in place; the device simply did not match up.

This was not helped by the fact that there are so many Android devices around (diversity) that some problems like the size of an icon relative to the screen size was completely off; compare this to the iPhone / iPod and iPad which have ~2 distinct screen sizes and thereby optimization of these was much better not to mention much easier as Apple is the only way to get these iDevices. Compared to the Android coalition which is composed of - SAMSUNG, ASUS, LG, SONY, MOTOROLA, Intel and on and on and on till every Chinese company these days.

Basically both companies are setting a benchmark device and like the Galaxy Nexus phone / tablet which herald the hardware requirements and software requirement of one generation of Android devices basically stating, if a phone / tablet you are buying costs above $X these are the minimum specifications it should have else you are being ripped off (for a particular generation of devices).

That is how I see it, might be some ulterior motives are at play as well. Cheerio!
