User Guides Fix laptop overheating with a little DIY spirit!

I used to have overheating problems on my HP Pavillion G6 (AMD Trinity Model) and it used to hibernate after 10mins of gameplay. So after some basic surgery and blowing lots of dust it is working fine. Now you could go to a service center for this but that's not how we do things at TE, right?
Learn how to fix overheating problems in your laptop by cleaning its fan and reapplying thermal paste. This video also shows the dis-assembly process for the HP Pavillion G6 laptop (last year's model) with common steps that you can apply on any recent consumer laptop:

Anyone who is going to try this - HP/Compaq gives the service manual for most of its machines - you can peruse them before attempting.

lots of places like promeabg, itdepot, etc depending on where you live. Hell, you can even buy one off junglee (Amazon) these days.
Here are a few links for example -

Alternatively, there is always ebay.
Any of these thermal compounds should be a significant upgrade over the factory applied goop provided they are applied properly

This really does help, I used to have a lot of overheating issues with my old Dell laptop, reapplying thermal paste cleared out the whole trouble.
