Forum Feedback For a New Member!!

I really did not like the idea of threshold, before a member can view the hidden sections. If a new member really want to switch from some other forum, it feels annoying to first post stuffs, get it approved from mods, wait....wait n wait .... then after weeks actually start using the Forum. I mean there should be some referal system or something. If some Reputed forum member knows someone personally, then that new member should be allowed direct access.

Which "Hidden Sections" are you talking about ? Market section ? I believe that even that section is visible to newbies but they cannot post over there.

And this has been discussed a thousand times. Market rules are made to prevent members getting cheated. It won't change.
 
@OP are you here just for the market section??.

Edit: In the last 9 months you made just 4 posts you have no right to comment on the rules.Be a active member then talk about the rules of the forum and yeah they will not hcange what so ever ,enough of TE members loosing money and products by cheaters :@:@
 
@OP, Metalspree gave a nice post, read it again. And yes the moderation and locked access to certain section of the forum is necessary, because some fellows joins this forum only for the market section and tries to cheats other members
I guess this will not change as there will be no (or very less) members supporting you.

Anyways its always better to join the forum, go through the rules, share you knowledge for a few days, post something useful, then go for the market section :)

I guess, OP was just asking if a referral system could be introduced to bypass the initial moderation. ( And not to entirely change the access for certain sections for new members.)
 
^ but mate still he doesn't lose anything if follows the regular rules, why this is not ebay register>buy/sell, since this is a tech forum, i guess he can register and post something useful rather then jumping to the market section directly

Even that is not a huge problem. When I joined,it took about 12hrs for my account to be activated & few of my initial posts were approved. But if that helps keeping spam out of the forum, then I am okay with it. I had been a member of TDF with 1000+ posts (before getting banned), & believe me the numer of spam threads cropping there by hour. TE is much cleaner. I've hardly seen spam threads here.

Also I won't vouch for a member even if know him personally. No one can guarantee how he/she would behave in the forums.

But why should someone refer anybody so that he can do market deals
If he is so interested in market become a dealer
Admins will be quite happy to reduce the new server financial burden :):)

And if his friend has so much faith in him
His friend can post the market deals on his behalf
Many are doing it

...not my POV. Just making OP`s query clearer ! :)

My stance is that to increase the moderation time frame.

Its is really difficult for us to keep every member under the scanner. So inorder to avoid conflicts and keep the forum away from scammers we have adopted for such rules.

Even moderators have their life and work, so sometimes it takes some time to approve and moderate posts and account activation. It doesn't mean we have any grudge against new member.

Every member is treated the same, new members are kept under control because off lately there has been a slew of crowd coming for market deals only. Being a technology forum we encourage to indulge members into technological discussions first, market is just a secondary feature provided by TE so that member can benefit from it.

Thanks for being a part of the community and have some patience things will be normal when you get used to it. Rules are just to for the betterment of the forum.
 
This is the only forum i have seen with not even a single spam post and i respect that. If the approval is instant there is every chance of spamming. That rule also makes this a dedicated active community rather than some random people just posting for some single answer.
 
Sorry, I browsed the comments on ma Mob. My mid term exams just got finished today. So was unable to post earlier. I read every single comment and I really respect the rules which the forum is having. I understand the concept behind the Post Moderation and all.
