Hey,
Just got my hands on the Unreal Engine 3 and its one awsome engine/mod to work on.
I'm thinking of making an official mod for UT3 official work will be taken care by me for registration and other stuff.
So all i need is few people who are well aware of how the UT3 engine work and the whole concept of how a game mod is made.

Requirements:
-Should know to create a maps,textures,kismat or UML scripting.
-Strong knowledge of 3d Application like 3ds Max and Maya (gaming is essential/architectural knowledge will also do)
-Should know how complex texturing and lighting work in game engines.
-Working of Actors/Brushes is utmost important.
-Should have good knowledge of Unreal Engine 2
-Must be interested in gaming :P

Requirement to Run the Unreal Engine 3:
-Quadcore/Dual Core (quad core preferred due to changes and calculations at runtime)
-2 GB ram minimum (loading and unloading of actors/ACS file and packaging)
-Enuf of HD space cuz its not at all small 1 map goes more than 500mb.
-A decent graphic card which can play UT3 with more than 50+ FPS.

P.S:- There in no money involved in it. All those who Join will get nothing in return. So if anyone joining is expecting anything in return please don't
This is just a dream of mine to have the 1st ever mod from India to be played and recognized by Beyond Unreal and Epic Studios.
 
awesome idea dude! i hope you find some guys to help you. Also try posting in some other forums (e.g. gamingindians etc...)

i guess ur UT3 mod designed on PC will run on PS3 too :)
 
one tiny winy doubt ero..

you got hold of the 'Unreal 3 Engine'????

Last i heard it cost a few hundred million dollars to get a license for using it...
 
if u have the game u get the UT3ED with it

with that u can make mods and maps. So the UT3 engine source code is not included which means no one can change the game from any angle but only add in stuff no subtracting is possible if u don't the UT3 engine Source code

Yes montylee it has cross platform support which means if i make a map for PC same can be played on the PS3 and Xbox 360 (only if published without package):P
 
i don't think XBOX 360 has that type of support. That was the primary reason why epic decided to release it on PS3 first. Sony was open to mods thing and as usual Microsoft wasn't.

so u dont have access the game engine :P :P..

all u have is a editor for making resource files used by the engine.. huge difference there bugger :P

what did you think?
mods can be created with it which is like an add on. To develop a game takes minimum 3 years a mod requires atleast 1 year if some one is thinking of making in few months still no possible.
Stalker have u seen the new UT3 engine its scripting is in UML which means its more of graphic scripting i.e with scripting u can write some new elements or add things to the mod
and to clear things out i plan to make a mod and not a game.
 
The most useful mod for INDIAN GAMERS would be zeroping. Zeroping+Instagib was lot of fun in UT,lets see if we get that thing here

epic themselves use the same editor to make the game you see.
 
If there is already a predifined editor, then why do you need 3d Max or Maya? Are you going to make your own characters and all? Correct me if I am wrong.

yes certain meshes that are not present in the library and seems important or decorative needs to be made in 3d applications

i won't mind teaching some one considering the other person put in the same effort as much as i put in.
 
Unreal Tournament 3 Mod



Mod consists of custom made maps, 2 new species of character, 2 new vehicle.

Objective in the 1st 5 months is to come up with 4 different maps which scales from industrial/Urban/Space which all consists of a VCTF and CTF factor which is also scalable for Deahmatch and Team Deathmatch.

Mod will be officially called UT:A.D

Characters will be having an ancient Indian look with modern gear equipped on them which also has a sophisticated knowledge of futuristic weapon and vehicles.The vehicles will be fast and small which may be airborne.

History Of Character:

Characters:


(The League):

3 Male and 1 Female character who were in exile and are now forced to fight for their pride and reputation.

Noru,Rain,Poison and 1.

Noru:

An Underdog who never believes in negotiations and can be gentle at time. A gentle giant to say.

Highly knowledgeable on special weapons on the field.

Rain:

The only female warrior and a leader who is fast and agile with heavy weapons. Forced to join the league to protect her family and friends which turned out to be a hobby for her over the past few decade. A vehicle specialist specially in Air to Air combat and Air to Ground combat.

Poison:

A wandering soul who happened to help the league in times of war and triumph. Was felicitated by the people for his extraordinary effort towards the end of the war. Now a part of the league who carries special intelligence which can be helpful on the field. He's just in for the ride

1:

Very less is know about him but all is known is that he is in his teen.

A small kid found by rain during the 2nd great battle of the league for the Titan. He considers Rain as his mother and Noru as his friend. Poison and 1 never get along even on the battle field they are trying to surpass each other.

(Rakshas):

4 unholy men who were part of the league and taught Rain and Noru the art of fighting and survival who were discarded from the league for questioning the league's principle and beliefs.

General Shi:

The oldest member of the Rakshas who has knowledge of everything and is fast for an old warrior.

Specializes in combo attacks to destroy the enemy.

Major Quan:

An ungrateful warrior who takes everything for granted his existence he believes is a curse for him. Who must fight for his survival as the Major of the Rakshas community.

He always seems to stay 1% ahead of Major Kai who is his rival but a friend who Quan never considers.

Major Kai:

At par with Quan but a loyal member of the Rakshas who don't mind going back to the League to fight for the right.

During the 2nd great battle for the Titan Major Quan saved Major Kai from death where 1 tried to run over Kai with a Senti. Major Kai lost his vision during the battle and uses an image enhancer to get a perfect vision.

Kai is trying his best to be the 1st Major of the Rakshas community.

Lt.Zia.

The most promising officer of the Rakshas community the next in line to take place of General Shi. Lt.Zia and Rain has a history and both can't stand each other due to a message passed by Lt.Zia stating that

"You,your family and friends are in debt to me for your entire life and Rain you are in debt to me for eternity". A reckless person who is stronger and sharper than anyother member of Rakshas.

Vehicles:

Senti:


A light weight vehicle which is fast compared to the vehicles present in the current game.

Has alt. fire on top and rail gun on the either side. Easy to mount another person at the back to handle the turret.

Can climb as high has the raptors. Also can fly in space with ease.

Clive: S:

A not so large vehicle which has heavy armor and can move at a decent pace and can easily accommodate 4 people in the vehicle.

The primary fire are shock rifle at burst speed and the secondary fire is the shock combo.

Helpful for VCTF based maps.

Maps:

Syndrome:

This is the heart of the league fights that takes place. A well balanced map for VCTF on Field but also a Deathmatch ground in the Core.

Map consists of 2 Parts 'The CORE' which the where the flag is placed and is spacious enough for a deathmatch to take place while escaping the core.

The other part is the path that follows from one flag to other flag. This is open space i.e big enough for vehicles to move around outside the core's entrance.

Death Do us Apart:

A Deathmatch arena which is vertically easy to climb but has huge fan at the top which blows strong air and the ground opens which is basically everyone falls in space.

It is an exhaust vent of a huge space station. Its a punishment for those fighters who betrays and fails to follows the rules of the league.

Cliffhanger:

A VCTF oriented map which has an urban look to it where the player can move in and out of certain buildings only small vehicles are applicable for this map

which means the Clive: S is a perfect vehicle for this map. The map expands to 4 blocks of buildings where a redeemer lies in the middle of the map i.e the market place.

Lucky Strike:

A VCTF map which is more of a frag party for the snipers and long range combat players. It scales between 2 space stations and only the Senti and Raptors are the only vehicles which are capable of doing something like this. Also snipers have an added advantage in this map because the only way back is a bridge which can accommodate only 2 people and keeps opening in every 5 seconds.

P.S: Any suggestions and questions are welcome once i feel satisfied with the whole concept i'll start off with rough sketches of vehicles and characters.
