Its an ssd.
It can be used as a boot drive to decrease the stat up time or important software/games can be installed on it to decrease load time.

It is an SSD, it makes the loading times and boot times really short.

Think off it as a pen-drive with the OS on it, loads faster than the mechanical hard-drive.
