Car & Bike Ford Mustang in India?!

New 2013s are available at around $21500 right now with the end of model year rebates. And the Camaros drive surprisingly well. (I was a bit prejudiced going in but the TD changed my view). If looks and price were not in the equation, I would even pick it over the 370z.

The camaro's chassis is based on the vauxhall vxr8 aka holden hsv gts which handles really well for its size. I'm not surprised that it is a good car.

Yes, the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger are fairly cheap in America. Although you are probably looking at the weaker (and not too thirsty) V6 version. Still even the V8 is still fairly cheap. America is very lucky to have companies with crowds actually interested in buying such cars.

A friend of mine had purchased a 2005 Porche 911 for a mint 16,200 US dollars.

The same money here would cost you a base model of a c1 sedan even with the deflated rupee.

Your friend is pulling your leg. You can barely get good pre-2000 911s in under 20k, so where did your friend find that mint 2005 911?Also, regardless of that ... there is no such thing as a cheap Porsche. He will pay through his nose on maintenance and insurance on that car and god help him if he crashes it without insurance.

Ever heard of the word bargain mate? Thats exactly what he encountered. And if you think you cannot get a Porsche 911 under 25 grand then you need to check again. Didn't the gas monkey garage sold one for 21 k recently?
Heck I have even seen a c4 corvette changing hands for what i consider chump change over there.
Every used car would set a buyer back more than what it would have in terms of maintenance. The only problem my mate had was the master cylinder[i think] and the car had a wierd allignment issue which he pretty much fixed day 1.
Does it have more probs and how it has been performing I have no idea as i have not asked for any updates on the same. But i do bite the seller's hand at this price if i were there.

$16200 does seem like a really good deal for a 2005 911. Did he buy it from a friend? I haven't seen any 911s from around that year for below $22000. (And I have looked at a lot of coupes over the last 6 months). Is it possible it was on a salvage title?

Dont know about the exact ownership details but the guy is basically into this business itself [Buying and selling] though that's not his main source of income.
Just been around the Ebay motors site and boy have the prices increased from what i had checked last year. Haven't been onlooking the U.S Automotive economy hence don't know what has affected it really.

Forgive me, cause it sounds too difficult to believe. You don't usually get 911s in that range. Perhaps really old 911s with lots of miles on it and in need of maintenance... But a 2005 car, that also in mint condition! Even modern Caymans and Boxsters are difficult to find in mint at that price.

Anyways good for your friend, but I wouldn't get too excited. Steal deal or no, maintenance will catch your neck sooner or later. You'll find many cars like this, eg the Ferrari 355 and Maserati Quattroporte; Even Japanese cars like the Nissan 300ZX and Mitsubishi GTO. Even if you get these cars cheap (and they are quite cheap), you should set aside an additional 10k$ just to maintain and run them.
