Beginner
Hi guys,

I am having dual boot os on my sys with separate hard disk i.e.

Win xp sp3 on primary 80gb hd
Server 2003 on 2nd slave harddisk of 160gb for running sap software

Now i dont need to work on sap, thus dosnt require server 2003 os too. Sap sw was sucking on my memory big time.

Now i want to remove that os and sap software or format my 160 hd, so that i can use it to store data on it.

Pls help me empty my 160gb hard disk without harming my primary os on my primary 80gb hd.

Thanks in advance

Re: help a newbie with formating second harddrive and remove its partitions - help

Simple..

Just log on to your Win XP...

Select the HDD/Partition and hit format

And you are done..

On the boot screen u may still get the second OS listed....

To fix this:

Right click on "My Computer" on your desktop and go to "System Properties"

Select the "Advanced" tab and in this select "Settings" button under the "Setup and Recovery"

In the new pop up...under "System Startup" hit the "Edit" button and replace the existing text with the following:

[boot loader]

timeout=30

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS

[operating systems]

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Warning: Use the above if and only your Windows XP Partition is on the Primary HDD & first partition (c:\)

P.S: No need to type all in caps :P

Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management

Now on the list on the left select Disk Management,

Now on the top/center/right there will be list of all your partitions...

Simply select the ones u don't want and select delete.

Warning: All data on the deleted partitions would be lost so make sure u backup stuff :P
