Renault plan Raikkonen coup

Flavio Briatore is hoping to pull off the coup of the year - luring Kimi Raikkonen to Renault for 2007-2008.

Following his fury at pitlane counterpart Ron Dennis' snatching of world champion Fernando Alonso, the Italian chief is busily convincing McLaren's 26-year-old Finn to help him return the favour.

The Abendzeitung newspaper wrote that Briatore met this week with Renault bigwigs in Paris, to convince them that Raikkonen is worth spending $57.6 million on.

Although he could stay at McLaren Mercedes beyond this year, Raikkonen is also seriously linked with moves to Ferrari and Toyota.
It seems he's the "Most Wanted" driver on the grid at this moment. :eek:hyeah:

Fury?? HOW?? He is Alonso's manager...... the deal with Mclaren would not have goine through without him knowing well in advance.... Something is fishy.....

Teams to look out for: Renault, McLaren and Ferrari!

Wrong order.... You McLaren fanboi!!!! It should be Alonso, Schumi and THEN Raikonnen...

But I would LOVE it if Kimi came to Ferrari..... He would be WC for sure.....

Bad News... (for ferrari fans)

Possible engine damage to the Ferrari V8

Michael Schumacher's hopes of winning in Malaysia could be dealt a major blow if his Ferrari V8 must be changed.

It is suggested that, like team-mate Felipe Massa who will thus be demoted ten places on Sunday's grid, all is not well inside the Bahrain/Malaysia-spec unit.

“We will know more about it tomorrow,†the 37-year-old admitted on Friday, “but there is a chance (the engine is damaged). Let's hope not.
â€

If the V8 must be replaced, it would be the third out of four Ferraris in the field (Massa and Red Bull's David Coulthard) that did not make it through the mandatory two-race span.
