hello
my system is as follows
amd x4 630
gigabyte 785gm us2h
vx 450
2 gb ddr2 ram
320gb hdd(WD)
onboard gpu
windows xp sp2
logitech mouse(basic) usb(purchased in 2009)

recently,i disconnected all the wires from my pc and opened the case to dust.i just blew away the dust, using a small brush to force dust off the heatsinks.now, when i connected all the things back and powered on my pc,it said found new hardware.i thought it normal and gave install automatically.then it says that the driver is now signed and asks whether to continue or stop installation.i gave continue anyway.now, mouse is working, but in device manager under mouse and pointing devices,it says-unknown device.i remember it was always "hid compliant mouse".trying to update the driver dosent do anything more than give the error saying the device has not passed the xp logo testing.
similarly, when i connect any usb device-pendrive,hdd,it gives the same error.i have to choose install drive automatically.
before,it would install everything by itself, without any input.
i gave "sfc /scannow" in command prompt, and the checking completes very fast, unlike before where it would take >1 hour.and it dosent do anything either.
there was a virus in the pc before,i cleaned it out.
it is an annoyance.(i tried google but it gives various solutions which i am afraid to attempt).
how do i fix it?
thanks.

you said you had a virus in yr system,it must have affected yr windows system 32 files...which is causing the problem.I think you must back up your data files.as u have cleaned the virus,so it will not be infected.then re-install windows...

If its doing it only when u connect a usb device, delete the usb root hub and host controller .... also if the front ports are creating issues, make sure the cables to the front usb are in properly in the mobo and the restart system and the reinstall the USB drivers.

thanks.reinstalling windows?well,it is a bit too much troublesome.will do it if it becomes too troublesome.

front ports-?well,i dont think that they are faulty.yes, the cables are proper, and i tried with the rear ports too, they have the same issue.ill try deleting the usb hub and controller.is it enough if i reinstall the usb drivers form the mobo cd?
