free antivirus+antispy

hi,
can anyone tell me the best free antivirus+antispy .it should not slow down the system.
i was thinking of-
1.avg antivirus +avg antispy
or
2.avast(is this only antivirs or both combined)
if anyone knows anything better pls tell me.i was using avg on my desktop.it was good .

tell me ur computer hack level. as u a beta crazy or a security patch addict kida guy.are u easy with complex security programms?

no,i'm need a simple protection.i'm not familiar with complex security programs.the main thing is it shoud'nt slow down the system
 
simple soln okay here goes

1. get antivir/avg free editions. antivir is slightly better in performance(scanning etc). but if u use outlook/thunderbird then u will need e mail scanning too . that is not available in antivir , for that goto avg free.

also antivir will give those annoying pop ups after successful update.

2. get a free firewall. can gofor pc tools,zone alarm etc etc.i would recommend u comodo firewall for best windows protection but it not for newbies.

3. get a signature based antispyware . it will reside in memory (like anvirus) and regularly update itself. i recommend u spyware terminator.

4. get a rule based antispyware(hips). like threatfire etc . also it can be enable explicitly on spyware terminator , comodo (that way u don't have to install one more software) it will bombard u with permissions /questions but soon they will reduce as the permissions are learned.

i would personally recommend u to get ubuntu and forget all of the above.

if u cant do that then get antivir+comodo(with defence+ enabled).let me warn u that comodo is not for noobs . but i used it and i can offer most rock solid protection u can get in windows , even better than commercial applications.

it is the closest u can get to linux like safety in windows IMHO.

no it will not.

but make sure before insalling comodo , it can be a pain in th a##.so make syure u read a lot bout it and join comodo forums

but once properly configured it will make ur windows as close to linux in security as possible.

AVG antivirus + Sygate Personal Firewall/ ZoneAlarm firewall. And use Firefox or Opera. You will not need any antispyware. This is what im using since a long time and never encountered any virus/spyware.
 
man have u seen usb drives trojan bombs??????????

i this age of trojans , antivirus is not going to serve u , trust me.

u need antispywares. that too both types

1.signature based

2.hips

and last but not the least get avg antirootkit free. it will not run in background, only requires one weekly scan. again it will scan somethings that antivirus wont!!
