I got this last year too but I use ImgBurn mostly. this is for whenever I want to make a multisession disk. Very much recommended over Nero bloat

I can't say what happened with your burns, but from my experience I have found Ashampoo Burning Studio to be the best in business

I am using the free version of Ashampoo Burning studio and I am fully satisfied with it..It does what a burning S/W should do..

BTW whats the difference between Free version and the version that Morgoth has mentioned
