Free File shredding app?

Can anyone suggest a free file shredding application. Have to wipe few HDDs clean off a server at work. Something which really works. I've heard of people being able to extract data from drives even after using erasing tool.

i suggest you use the IOLO DriveScrubber. If you want to wipe the data clean beyond recovery, it has the high level profiles. Select them for wiping.
But keep in mind that it would take a very long time.

AFAIK it comes with a price tag
 
thanks guys...right now in office so can't download hiren's boot CD. Will give a try to Eraser.

Arya try Zilla Data Nuker also, I personally use it.

It's free, comes with multiple shredding algorithms and is fast

try eraser.. free

try tuneup utilities... commercial

there you have in the order of speed... dont full erase... do a random erase unless the data is really sensitive... chao...

It was a rented machine for our team. which gotta go out today. payment means it will take about a week to get approval from finance.

There is sensitive data on it. Lots of projects. The server was home to our VSS.

Then use up the trial period. You can use all of the commercial softwares by virtue of the trial periods.
