Its no secret, a perfect market is one where information is freely available. All the developed markets strive on this.

Then why out here we have all the price discussions should be made via PM... at the most we will have longer threads but will atleast keep the members informed as to what is a fair price for a given thing.

Right now an un-informed member may make rash decision, should it be considered lucky on the seller's part only. Do not make this an overtly modded forum.

The argument that this will lead to thread crapping is baseless, its very easy to judge which person will constantly thread crapping or not.

The bottom line is tend more towards ignoring crappers, then making it an overtly modded market. Any person can deduce that the more the intervention in markets the less imperfect it becomes...

heh, again like I said in the other thread there are always 2 groups of people making 2 opposite demands. Market was horribly abused by spammers and lowballers in the past. It reached the point where people even demanded just classified type close market.

The current format is a standard which is tried and tested. Everyone here is well informed about the prices, we have dealer sections where prices of almost everything are available for anyone browsing the forums. And negotiations should always be personal and private. People abused the open market policy when it was there and this is the result.

^^ the point being it was easily identifiable, there were a couple of users (in single digits) whom I presumed would be abusing the system by a consensus of you mods. Ok fine ban them, nobody would object. That would reduce around 70% of the crapping, the rest 30% is it such a big pain as not to ignore. I am sure its not that TE is running out of bandwith or anything so as to restrict the size of threads or anything...

My point why not ignore a certain amount of crapping, its very to identify who will do in a regular basis. And based on your mod consensus ban the member, no one here will mind

I Wish it was that simple. Its not.

No one likes their market threads getting crapped. People dont ignore it. Someone retaliates, another 2-3 people join in the bashing and all it leads to is huge flame war in that thread. And we mods are not online 24x7 to take care of these things immediately. And this 90% of the times ends up spoiling the thread.

Everything needs some boundaries. A certain set of rules to keep things under control. Market is no exception. There is no such thing as a absolute free will, then how can there be a free market

And we have made it clear in the past as well. If we find someone is really trying to rip off buyers we will not delete the posts that exposes that. There were couple of cases like this recently and those threads were not touched by mods even after crapping by few members and 1 thread i closed myself. So no need to worry about these cases.

I have seen this happen more than once, but usually where either:

a) the price being asked for is truly horrendous, its kind of justified in this case

b) the crapping user has a grudge (it happens, actually a lot with amarbir's threads)

c) the crapping user is an a$$hole

You can control c, but I think a and b are a bit more hairy to handle.

Hmm...

Too many boundaries defined in a very small span of time, and all this because some activities by some members initiated it. Look at it, just count how many members it took to derail the old market system. Things were not as bad some time back, and presto now we have a near police state in market

Flamewars happen a lot other places, after a time its clear its just a handful of ppl who carry them out. Outright banning of such members afaik would beneficial to the whole community...

Take an eg: How come we will never have any crappings from thread from say Chaos, bikey, burnz, funky etc....... and countless other members ?
