Laptops Free Upgrades ??? what does it mean?

Hi,

I often come across Laptop ads on newspaper stating that there is a free upgrade to 1GB ram, or 80 GB hard disk drive etc...

What does this mean ? why doesnt the company give those in the config in the first place. I mean if its free then i dont think anybody will refuse such offers.

I know these are marketing stunts, but still is there a catch in such ads. i

Unlike us, a basic user will think it as a free upgrade only, so he'll find it attractive and hence he'll be buying it. So basically those marketing stunts only. But not for us ;).
 
nopes lol its free so duh why wud u PAY for a FREE upgrade lol, stupid question

however free upgrades r model based i.e. u may not get the same offer for another computer model
