Damn! Why couldn't they put this up a couple of days ago. Just bought a domain and hosting.

But I think it's better in a way that I didn't go with this. :P

Its a initiative by google India. Its not scam. I registered cPanel®

How long did it take for the domain to be registered? Did they contact you or something?

The mail which they sent had this

Your website is initially created and published on a subdomain (eg: gibo-example-primary.hostagator.co.in) Once we’ve verified your business we migrate your website to the domain name you chose (xxxxx.in.) This may take a few days, so please be patient.

The domain I chose is still available for registration!

If the domain is available then you will get it. its instant.

Dont use Firefox to register, use chrome to register. Dont know is google checking that :)

Its not working on Firefox or IE

(After submitting just gets and blank screen in FF and IE)

It works on Chrome.

If you are serious about a website, then registering a *.in domain is not worth much. You must get a .com address...

Its better to find a good webhost and get an account for unlimited domains hosting on it, which will hardly cost $50 a year and the domain would cost another $10 a year...

I wonder how much it would cost to renew HostGator webhosting once the free year is over...

can we register only domain and point it to our own hosts??

and i have a PAN card but not a business.. can i get one???

PAN card is to ensure that you are legitimate user. Just like paypal take our PAN card details.

As to those who want to register for business, there is no need to really have one, if asked for details, just use ur name as name of business and use ur home address as office location! Simple!

I am not able to register any domains :@

It showing me all domains I entered are not available where as they are available at other domain registrars & I am using google chrome only :S

How much time does the verification take? I registered but when I try logging in with my details, it kinda doesn't work.

FREE word in India means a lot, even someone who needs one loots more than he / she needs.

I won't be surprised if the registrations gets canceled.
