is there ny chance my account is hacked n sum1 elz is usin the account..i changed my:( :S

its possible although unlikely...

more likely there is noise in your telephone line which you should get the bsnl people to diagnose (good luck with that)...

can you login to your modem/router and post the "SNR" (signal to noise ratio) and "Attenuation" (att) numbers, that might give a clue... basically the SNR should be high (i think 20-30 db) and the att should be low (under 20 db) if i remember those numbers correctly... else it indicates you are either farther away from your telephone exchange and/or your line is noisy...

Use Pppoe mode and see if it makes any difference.

Install a good firewall like kaspersky, so you will know which programs are accessing the net.

Why don't u check the usage timings on the BSNL Portal? That way u'll know if there's any traffic when u were not online.

Also, like Hacker said, use ppoe.

me + another friend elsewhere in tvm have been experiencing a lot of timeouts and packet losses with bsnl. something is fishy

today its been terrible .. using tata usb modem rt now.. the link goes off as sooon as it comes back on.. theres something definetly wrong in my area i think... its been very frustrating :(

Was just going to create a thread about this. I've been experiencing very frequent disconnections, and it's become so bad that in the past week, I've barely had a stable connection for 4 hrs a day.

As soon as the clock stikes 9am (give or take a few minutes) the disconnections start and this is the worst period.

It's very frustrating. Could it be linked to my phone? It's been dead for a while now (not that i use it much anyway)

I have been facing *super very* frequent disconnections, the DSL link stays on for 20secs maximum, this is really annoying, its happening around the clock, and hence I can barely download anything in the night, whats the solution guys?

Solution would be switch to Airtel. No seriously! :)

You'll learn to live with it. Its happens now and then.. Sadly, theres nothing you or the customer friendly BSNL can do about it :(

post the SNR and other DSL link statistics. you should have about 20 dB to have a stable connection. else you can get it rectified. just go bug the JTO in your exchange

was an airtel customer for 2 years, then had to move and there was no airtel in this place so had to disconnect airtel service, now 3 years later there is still no airtel in my area :(

click here for a screen shot,

BTW I just changed the splitter to my 5 year old one(that came with airtel :p) 5 mins and there hasn't been any disconnections, btw when I changed the splitter I noticed that the RJ11 jack had become gooey sort of(Modem one, this its little melted, it doesnt click in, anymore just slides in) is it coz of heat? But I keep my net on for barely 8 hrs a day.
EDIT: Ah just when I was happy, the disconnections started, but not that often, once every 2-3 mins now.. :(

I can confirm your. doubt abt the splitter. Even the same thing happened to me..change the splitter and everything works..
Try to get some from market and see, from wat i know they should be pretty cheap..

I was also recently getting frequent disconnections and for me it turned out to be my 3 yr old Huawei SmartAX MT800 modem, which appeared to be working normally and showing low SNR margin of under 10 dB. But when the BSNL guys finally came to my house with a new UTStarCom UTR300R2U modem it worked fine! Wasted many days troubleshooting/complaining about the line/wiring...

So, try a different modem if you can... especially if yours is old...

same problem here in baroda.frequent disconnections and the problem is once it gets disconnected it wo n't reconnect automatically, you have to manually remove the cable and plub it back in for internet to work again!!!!
