yes u can get in a quad core. first decide what he wants , does he need a 8800gt ? does he want a 19 " or a 22 "inch . how much hard disk does he need. give down your requirements and needs. go through the pc buying guide there are a few more options you might want to look at. then may be i can help u out a bit.

why are we even talking about a quad core and 8800gt if its going to be very basic use?
wont a 25k machine be more than enuf, and spend the remaining money on me for saving his cash :P

i agree with nukeu666, when its for mild gaming then why a quad core???
your friend doesnt need a Quad Core for Surfing+Movies+mild Gaming :P
all that can be done even with PIV :P but since the budget is more, then a Core2Duo would do. and mild gaming can be done with an onboard intel GMA 256 mb version. << but that depends on your motherboard

^^^ hey buddy i personally feel if ur current requirement is not much then dont overspend.. meaning get a c2d (e4500 or wateva)+ 5kish mb wit onboard gfx +2gb ram, use it for 2 years... then trash it..(and invest the money u save) and buy a new proc,mb an ram then..

but do go in for a decent psu, hdd,and monitor.. cause this can be used later aswell..

think about it i guess it makes a lot more sense..

Give the bugger a Jetway 692GDG + X2 4800+ + 2x1GB DDR2 667/800 and some decent sound card. :P

Let him try the onboard and then upgrade the gfx card as per his needs. ;)
