AMD Athlon 64 3000+ Processor (Socket 939, Venice, 90nm, L2 Cache: 512 KB) ADA3000BPBOX = Rs. 5800
MSI RS482M2-IL Motherboard with onboard Graphics (Socket 939) = Rs. 4700
TwinMos 512 MB 400 MHz DDR SDRAM = Rs. 2400
Seagate ST380817AS 80 GB 7200.7 SATA Hard Disk with NCQ = Rs. 2400
Sony CRX320AE/U 52X Combo Drive = Rs. 2100
Logitech Easy Keyboard = Rs. 300
iBall Laser Prescise Mouse = Rs. 800
Powersafe 400 Watts SMPS = Rs. 1400
Antec SLK3000B TAC Cabinet = Rs. 3000
Sony 3.5 Inch Floppy Disk Drive = Rs. 300
Samsung SyncMaster 793S 17 inches CRT Monitor = Rs. 5000
Altec Lansing AVS300 2.1 Channel Speakers = Rs. 1200
Powercom IND-600A 600VA UPS = Rs. 2000

Total = Rs. 31,400

Or,

Intel Pentium 4 Non HT 2.66 GHz Processor (LGA775 Socket) = Rs. 5,200
Intel D915GAV Motherboard with onboard Graphics (LGA775 Socket) = Rs. 4500
TwinMos 512 MB 400 MHz DDR SDRAM = Rs. 2400
Seagate ST380817AS 80 GB 7200.7 SATA Hard Disk with NCQ = Rs. 2400
Sony CRX320AE/U 52X Combo Drive = Rs. 2100
Logitech Easy Keyboard = Rs. 300

Antec SLK3000B TAC Cabinet = Rs. 3000

Samsung SyncMaster 793S 17 inches CRT Monitor = Rs. 5000
Altec Lansing AVS300 2.1 Channel Speakers = Rs. 1200
Powercom IND-600A 600VA UPS = Rs. 2000

Total = Rs. 30,600

But the AMD configuration will easily defeat this Intel configuration.

Powersafe 400 Watts SMPS = Rs. 1400

Antec SLK3000B TAC Cabinet = Rs. 3000

If the guy is not into OCing, why not get a generic cabinet with a 350W power suply for 1000/-

The saved money could be kept aside for buying a decent gfx card later

Nowdays 400 Watts is a must for every PC & the difference between 350 & 400 Watts is only 400 Bucks.

And that cabinet is for preventing any heating issues as it is a TAC Cabinet.

I disagree....A non-geek who doesn't OC his/her PC ill be more than happy with a generic (though crappy ) frontech/mercury/generic crap cabby with a 350 W supply and will not face big overheating issues either on a Venice 3000+ at stock...

BTW The difference is (3000+1400)- (1000) =3400/-

A non OCer/gamer on abudget definitely doesn't need a SL cabby...actually even a gamer on a budget doesn't need a SL

He is not gonna OC but he will be playing games....

What would be a best buy graphics card ??? the cheapest possible ... ?!?!?

The mobo doesnt have SATA 300GBps ... will it make a difference ...

AMD 3000+ , 939: 5900/-
ASrock ULi chipset : 3500/-
Twinmos 512x2 DDR 400 Mhz : 2450x2= 4900/-
Samsung 17 incher Monitor : 5500/-
Gainward 6600 GT golden sample PCIe : 7900/-
Seagate 80 giger SATA : 2400/-
Case+400 watt Powersafe : 700+1400 = 2100/-
Benq 1640 DVD writer : 2800/-
Altec Lansing ATP3 :2900/-
Optical Mouse + K/B : 700/-

Order : top to bottom : most required to least required/replacable/use older components.

Math is a lil over board , but i guess worth it .

Yes but its always good to have a safety margin.....for example a splendor can do 80 kmph, so why a pulsar.....(guys who like to OC their bikes are entrants here, not guys who get pulsar's for their chicks....:bleh: )

as for psu's, lets just put them in 3 categories,
a)generic el-cheapo, no name brands (<1k)
b)not so good brands like zebronics, powersafe etc (>1k)
c)the best like antec, cm etc (>3k)

for casual, no-oc, no upgrades in future b) would do just fine :)
for all others c) is a must :)
a) should be avoided by one and all, no excuse can justify there presence other than ignorance :)

Any specific reason for recomending Non-HT version ? I always thought HT was the only plus thing you get with Intel over AMD

Because there is no 2.66 HT in Socket LGA775 (Checked the Intel Website).

And I did'nt know the price of 2.8 HT.

Get the AMD man, its better than intel, period. You dont get VFM in intel at all. Better get a AMD 3000+ and MSI RS482M2, its better than intel P4 630(3Ghz, 64 bit, etc) and the its yuccky original motherboard. And there are thermal issues with intel. Get a zebronics 400W PSU atleast its better than those craps you get it with a generic cabinets.

Hi Ragin_Ice,

Where do you get Gainward 6600 GT GS PCIe for 7.9K :S Ordered mine XFX PCIe for 9.8K:huh:

You might have ordered the 256 MB Version for 9.8K and the Gainward 6600 GT GS (Golden Sample) PCIe for 7.9K is a 128 MB Version.
