Hey guys,

My doctor has diagnosed me. This ailment is fatal. Its scientific name is El-Caramba-Upgraditicis and the Layman's term is "Upgrade Fever." (just like Dengue fever.)

So here goes:

RAPTORS "RAID-0" pair

What: 2 x WD Raptor 36.7GB 10000 RPM

Age: 10 months

Bought: 6.7K from Delhi, SMC International

Asking price: Rs 4.6K shipped.

Both in Raid-0 pair: Rs 9K shipped.

Warranty: Local Indian :)

A slight look at the performance:



(this with antivirus in back ground. I have gotten access times as low as 6.4 ms with these :))

Perfect for OS + Programs. My current boot up times, from first Graphical Windows screen (the Slider :P) to inside Windows (logged in any everything) is under 10 secs now :) Ofcourse, after I did some magic tweaking i.e. If you buy this pair, I will help you replicate such speeds :)

I guess you are new to the Raptors scene.... the top end Raptor is mere 150GB in size, yet costs more than typical 400 GB drivers....

reason: the RPM, which is 10,000 in this case. Due to that all accesses and particularly sustained data transfer speeds gain a lot.

So, thats not a typo. When in RAID-0, the combined size comes to around 74GB of FAST hard drive space.

Compare this: A typical 320giger (of 7200.10) will have a access time of 13.4ms (give or take a few .x) This one has a access time of 8.1ms stock, and < 6.5ms when tweaked. Hozzat? Anyone can tell you what kind of a difference those 6 ms can make :P

About the fan: Its 120mm (ofcourse :))

Its a ivory silver 997DF. I never liked the look of the black ones. Too tacky. And too few produced by Samsung.
