Graphic Cards Galax GPU and warranty issues?

Some things i can think of is ,(THEORETICALLY)

1. They might have put some firmware code to record the UNINTERUPTED RUNNING HOURS .gamers cannot game 24x7, but a mining rig will run 24x7.

2.Usually companies study silicon/ chip/ component degradation with age of product.
Under microscope they might be able to see if a chip and memory is abused over time and compare it with normal gamming chip to verify the difference.

.....................

add if you think of something
Still a gamer can argue that he is playing 24x7 or running some renderer.
Also don't think the rma handlers have the facility to inspect a gpuat a microscopic level.
There is no such firmware running in GPUs.. atleast no evidence of such a thing so far. People were using GPUs for mining for close to a decade now.. so if they were concerned such warranty terms should have been in place long ago.

What's happening with Galax? If someone has purchased their GPU from Amazon(Appario), will they face the same issues during RMA?
TAG (tech and gadgets) is the official incharge for Galax products in India.

What has been happening recently is that the certified dealers for galax cards have been declining the warranty claims on galax GPUs and hereby rejecting all the RMA requests for the same.
This created an image that Galax is not gonna serve for warranty claims any more and hence people must avoid the brand for future purchases.

But a few months later, TAG made an official announcement, stating that there is no such decision by the company on rejecting the RMA requests.
And also stated that all warranty claims will be accepted, but under specific criteria, and mentioned the requirements for rma.

Conclusion : The RMA requests were declined due to poor physical condition of the gpu, and the story spread with the image of the company rejecting the warranty claims.

I do not have any firsthand experience but according to emails received by some that has been posted on facebook, Galax seems to be asking TAG invoice before rejection. In these emails, nothing about physical damage is mentioned.

Perhaps they are asking TAG invoice only to some people and their devices which seem suspicious to them. I have seen lots of newly RMAd cards on sale, which can mean they clearly do not ask TAG invoice to everyone. (Again just a speculation ofcourse)

They asking you for a proof of purchase, that is a good sign.
Go ahead and check if the process gets completed

That's not mine plus the RMA being completed could also mean that the customer somehow got the TAG invoice, or Galax still processed without it. But the fact remains they asked for TAG invoice to further process the RMA.

Afaik TAG is just the importer and not a retailer. And consumers don't usually have an importer's invoice.

exactly my point.they are unnecessarily asking for TAG invoice. They should just provide warranty based on Import date/serial no in case of No/Tampered invoice.

Oxidation, Rust and dirt is very normal for GPUs and can happen to any GPU after a certain time. Denying warranty based on that is a scummy practice.

Just avoid GALAX products. Whats the point buying brand new GPU when you can't be sure if they will honor warranty. Might as well buy a 2nd hand one for half the price.
