dear friends,
im doing my computer science enginnering (first year). my dream job is any job associated with developing a game(be it programmer,animator,game designer).. i dont know what qualifications are required for this..

i may be thinking abt my future a bit too early but im really curious..
my course will teach me c,c++,java,unix and so on..

could you plzz give me valuable tips on how to get a job in the gaming industry..i might even consider learnin maya,photoshop ..

programming: c, c++, directx.

Try downloading the Visual Studio 2008 Express version and they have game sdk addons and tutorials.

maya, photoshop are for designers.
java is for mobile phone games.

Microsoft is providing xna game studio express as a free download. Once you start getting hold of programming you may want to try this as well.

learn the opengl and directx SDK

my college comp. science course has opengl in course but not directx

Apart from directx and open gl make sure you do your computer graphics, data structure and algorithms courses well. Learn concepts of AI if you want to get into programming games.

i've been in this field for 3 yrs now and its pretty hard to survive beside there ae less gaming studios in Bombay.

Pune,hydrabad,banglore,Goa,delhi,madras they have loads of studios there soo the chances of landing a job there is more than in bombay.
