Gamepad vs keyboard/mouse

There is no way I will keep investing in a PC to play the games in all their glory.

So the only thing thats holding me back from getting a console is that I cant play FPS and RTS like they are supposed to be played.

Has there been any development on this front. Can the games be played on xbox360 or ps3 using a mouse and keyboard.

Looked around but all fingers post towards a device dated 2006 which I am not even sure made it to the market. IGN: Mouse/keyboard for 360

this is how pc gaming industry make money.........on the other hand console do give us more\better single player exp but cant give the feeling of us being enthosiest!

regarding ur query i heard ut3 can be played but thats ps3......i also heared that control scheamatic is totally game developer dependent!......so u might want to stick w\ pc gaming bcoz for only one reason that pc games are besically free!

PC games are not free !! Just because you can steal something does not make it free. Its like a jewelry thief saying gold is free of cost. :P

I can't even think of playing an FPS or RTS or even TPS on console .. it just doesn't suits me. And even if i add these mouse/kb on to the console (if there is such option available) I would still prefer PC. I ALT+Tab anytime of the game so just can't get rid of this habit. :P
 
Most console games are not designed to make use the smooth precision movement associated with a mouse, The Analog stick on a controller does not give you the same amount of precision over movement that a mouse does.

This is why most console shooters have large rectacle's or have large tolerances for the aim. Even if you use a mouse with a console, it would not be the same as using a mouse on PC. The movement will be rather jerky.

I myself have a Splitfish FragFX controller for my PS3, its decent option for people who are not used to playing FPS games with a controller (meaning to say its better than using a regular controller for FPS games), but its no good as a replacement for the good old Keyboard & Mouse combo on PC.

Console + Mouse (or Custom Controller) != PC + Mouse.
