Hi guys, not sure if I placed this thread at the correct section, I have Dell XPS 15 L502x, specs are i7-2630QM, GT 540M, 4 GB RAM. I know very low specs for gaming, but it plays well.
I play games at 1366x768 at medium settings. I bought this laptop in May 2011. It played games like Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, Black OPs very nicely at medium.
Since March this year I am noticing very bad lag on all the games, even in games which doesn't require much power like Fifa 2013. I have no idea what the problem is, I recently updated the drivers, but that did not work. Please help me with this, is it possible memory leak? I did memory diagnostics, but don't know where to see its log file.
Please help and suggestions are welcome :)

Its just the system throttling the graphic card to prevent over heating.
Get a technician to open up the laptop and clean the air vents and fans, your problem will be solved

The laptop is 2 years old and in all probability has not seen any maintenance activity till date. It must be overheating. Take it to the authorised service centre and get the innards cleaned. The dust clogged heatsink, vents, fan et al.

Wow those were some quick replies, I had two years warranty, it still has 2 days of warranty left which is complete cover, so I will tell them about this and update here, thanks guys.[DOUBLEPOST=1367578369][/DOUBLEPOST]Update, I called Dell, what an amazing service, they are ready to replace parts if the parts still overheat, I did check now the temps are close to 100 degree C, for both CPU and GPU, thats sad, I hope they also change the thermal paste on them.

That's too much :O Get it cleaned or replaced.

Update
My laptop is still under warranty so Dell agreed to replace the CPU HSF and clean it.

My question, I am curious whether I should upgrade my RAM, I have 1x4GB and one slot is still left, but will it be worth it? I am buying a new desktop in Diwali this year.[DOUBLEPOST=1367594216][/DOUBLEPOST]@Gannu bump! bamp!

Avoid. Ram prices are up and I don't think you'll need more than 4gb considering the heaviest tasks you are doing, are gaming.

You can always upgrade later should you feel the pinch. Service charges for installing RAM aren't alot.

Update
Dell changed the Heat Sink and thermal paste and fan also, so the temps are lowered by 10 degrees, I have a problem now that whenever battlefield 3 crashes, it the process does not go out of memory, it stays there, I try to end it but it does not end, and also does not leave the 1 gb memory that it uses. I have to restart my system because of that.
