Hi everyone,

I am looking to buy a 27 inch 144hz 1080p monitor to game.

I have an rtx 3060 and wondering if it's good enough to get 144 fps in modern games like Elden ring.

Thanks

I am looking to buy a good monitor to game.
What specs should I look for in general.
My budget is 15k

I am looking to buy a new gaming monitor under 20k for some moderate gaming.

Current specs
GPU - rtx 3060
CPU - Intel Core i5 9th gen
16 GB ram

Thanks

What is your budget? I'd not recommend getting a 1080p at 27" size. It would be better to get a 24" 1080p 144Hz or 27" 1440p 144Hz depending on your budget.

For 1080p 24" 144Hz, this is a good buy.

Get LG 24GN650, goes for 15.5-16k, apparently OOS now, but is usually in stock. If you want something immediately, can consider that Acer VG240Ys, just that it lacks an height adjustable stand that LG one has. HP x24ih is also good, but bit expensive & has just 1 year warranty.

Don't get 27" 1080p due to low ppi or expect to play at 1080p ultra 144fps for SP games like Assassin's Creed or Far Cry 6. Also, "officially" Elden Ring maxes out at 60fps from what I heard. Play SP graphic intensive games at 70fps IMO for a good experience + good visuals.

Thanks for the suggestion. Would a 3060 be capable of running modern games at 144 fps ?

I never thought about the low ppi issue . Thanks a lot. I will look in to the monitors you mentioned !

What games would you like to run at 144 fps?

Many single player titles are capped at 60fps and 144fps is used mainly by e-sports titles like CS:GO and the likes.
Almost no game on Pc is capped at 60fps, are you talking abt console ?

Based on this calculator (https://howmanyfps.com/games/elden-ring?search=elden), youre looking at 55 fps 1440p and 76 fps at 1080p. But Elden ring is REALLY under-optimized for PC. For almost all other games (Apex Legends, GTAV etc), 3060 can push 1440p monitors over 144 frames, so I think 1440p+144Hz the bare minimum to get full value from your 3060.

Ohh, my bad. I was browsing a Reddit thread on monitors for PS5 and had a brain fart moment over this thread which was compounded by the fact that Elden Ring is capped at 60FPS on PC. I don't know the current status but when it was released, it was capped at 60FPS on PC

Also, some games which are ported from console to PC are capped at 60FPS. Although there is very often a way/mod to remove the frame cap on PC.

27 inch should be WQHD atleast.

1440p in other words, save a bit more and get a good monitor with WQHD like the odessy G5
