Adept
I will be buying a new rig later this month. The main purpose of this rig will be gaming, watching movies(generally non-hd...sad dl speed :'( ) and surfing. I have been thru the PC buying Guide July 2009 and made out this configuration..what do you guyz think about this?

Motherboard: Biostar TA790GXB - -4.5 k
Processor: AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE- -5.4 k
RAM: Transcend 2 x 2GB DDR2 800MHz - -2.2 k
Display: SAMSUNG 22" (P-2250)- -10.0k
Graphics: Ati 4770- -6.5 k
Cabinet: Zebronics Bijli- -1.0 k
HDD: Segate 1tb- -4.2 k
PSU: Gigabyte Superb 460w- -2.0 k
Optical Drive: Samsung SH-S22F SATA - -1.1 k
Speaker: CREATIVE M4500 4.1 - -2.1 k
Keyboard: Logitech Multimedia - -0.5 k
Mouse: Logitech 4-way - -0.4 k

Total..............................................-39.9k

Now all the cofusions and questions..

1.Are these prices right(plz correct me,if not)?
2.is 4770 available in Nehru Place,Delhi?
3.any other GFX card which i should looking at, in this range?
4. Can any phenom II 550 BE regardless of the batch no. be unloceked to 4cores?
5. Is the Stability of the system affected after unlocking cores?

if you find anything foolish plz ignore..:ashamed:

Everything seems close to current market price except for:
RAM: Transcend 2 x 2GB DDR2 800MHz - -2.2 k ~~Rs.3000
Graphics: Ati 4770- -6.5 k ~~Rs.7800
PSU: Gigabyte Superb 460w- -2.0 k ~~Rs.2200
HDD: Segate 1tb- -4.2 k ~~Rs.4000

RAM prices have increased dramatically.
Where did u find HD4770 at 6.5K cos i need to know....
Also 1TB price have dropped..

^^ But at its current price it does not justify going for DDR3 especially for Mid-end systems.

The Performance/Price ratio of DDR3 is very low....

Better get a high performance DDR2 RAM.

isnt it better to go for 4850 if 4770 costs 7.8k?

from what i ve heard till know 4850 is 5-10% faster than 4770

and 4850 is GDDR3 and 4770 is GDDR5 does this makes any diffrence in performance?

what does the GDDR does?

Its the graphic RAM.

4770 is 128bit DDR5 and 4850 is 265bit DDR3 so its the same almost.

Better to go for a 9.2k Lg 22" monitor, for gaming, on itwares. Just look for it on their site.

@ iprincepankaj - DDR3 is future proof and better for overclocking. 5.8k for Gskill 4gb ( 2x2gb ) Trident sticks is decent. you can also get a bbit cheaper sticks through KMD.

Just saw a thread in Cpu/mobo corner ...

how about an athlon x4? both of them cost same...

what if dont get a good batch of pII x2 550 BE?

buying pII can be risky in that case...
