Finally my hsc exams got over and I am plannig to get a gaming rig for myself my budget is restricted tp 27k.I have the following config in mind plase give ur inputs:

Intel E2160 MO stepping(will overclock it to 3.0)
Abit IP35-E (from theitwares.com)
2gb Ram Transcend or kingston 800mhz(which one good for overclocking)
250gb seagate single platter hd
POV 500w Black diamond or Powersafe 500gold(Can Save 1k here by getting powersafe and use that on getting better ram help:clap: )
Zebronics Antibiotic(any other cabinet in 2k price range)
Palit 9600gt form phoniex.

Also give the latest price of the above config and which shop is good at lamington road for buying these products. Will buy it in the second week of april or should I wait still intel price cut.

go for the biostar tp35d2a7..cheaper by abt 1k to 1.5k...add a lilltle and go for the gigabyte 8800gt

i dont exactly remeber the model but u can get deceent cabbys without smps for 1-1.5k

Processor - E2160

Motheboard - Abit IP35-E

RAM - Transcend 2x1GB DDR2 800

HDD - Seagate 250GB (Single Platter)

Graphics Card - 8800GS/9600GT/8800GTS (320MB)

PSU - POV Black 500W / Amigo 500W Blue

Case - Cooler Master Elite 330

1> Never cheap ou on PSU.

2> The 8800GTS is quite chea its 139$ on newegg. It performs really good for that price.

3> Try other dealers also. There are plenty here on TE.

4> Try to get the AMIGO PSU if possible I have head its really good.

5> Go for some Amigo fans also so that you can have adequate air flow.

7> You may wanna go for the Arctic Freezer Pro 7 , Cooler Master Hyper TX2 or 212.

Is amigo smps better than pov black diamond and whats da price of amigo. Will 8800gts be able to play latest games at medium resolution.

what resolution are you going to be gaming at? and what kind of games do you mainly play? theres no point going for an 8800gt if you're going to be gaming at 1024*768.
Also, get a larger hard disk...I don't think theres a huge price difference between a 250 and a 320 gb hdd, and the 320gb is cheaper on a per gb basis.
If you're going to overclock your processor then make sure your cabinets roomy with plenty of airflow..get a full tower with atleast 2*120mm fans and room for adding more, and lets not forget dust filters, preferably removable.
If you're going to go for an aftermarket cooler, add the cost to the processor, and see if it doesn't make sense to just go for a slightly more powerful processor.

+1 for biostar tp35d2-a7 , bought it at 4.6k from mahavir in lamington road . 1 GB DDR2-800 Transcend for 950 from same place . E2160 is Rs.2650 . Not sure about palit .

OT: Biostar is cheaper than other p35 chipset mobo's but is very good for overclocking, cons are that it has only 4 sata ports ( compared to 6 on other p35's ) and no hardware raid . Its a pretty good mobo if you dont use raid anyway .

raptOr:So I will be going for biostar instead of abit considering it is a good overclocker.

iamddevil :Currently I will play on my 17" crt but will be getting a 24" dell in july,I would be playing latest games like biostock crysis etc,

I will get 9600gt as 8800gt is over my budget

If you're definately going to upgrade your screen later, then it may make sense to go for a cheaper graphics card for now and upgrade it later when you upgrade your monitor. The 9600gt is a great card, but I don't think it'll be able to play crysis at 1920*1200. Alternatively it may make sense to go for the 8800gt since your monitor upgrade is only 4 months away. Or get something thats SLi capable and pick up a second 9600gt when your budget allows. The last options the best I think.

^^doode the sli mobo will be super expensive :D

i think you should try to squeeze in a 8800gt or get the 9600gt and OC the crap out of it :D

+1 to the biostar mobo

additionally, transcend ram is slightly cheaper than kingston and the amigo psu is around 1800-2k so you can save compared to a pov black diamond

another thing... if you wanna OC to 3ghz, the stock cooler wont do and you will have to get another heatsink/fan such as mine :D

Trust me U will never have GOOD Gaming rig in 27K....

If you possible it by any means U need to upgrade in next 1 year....

My suggestion increase budget up to 35k..

^^come on...a good rig depends on what each person considers "good"

what he would want is the best he can get out of his budget

if he can get a 8800gt into his config, then it is "GOOD" :D

arctic cooling freezer 7 pro from kmd for 1750+shipping

got it maybe 2 months back :D

me and a friend both have the e2140 but he has a stock cooler... so with 30 degree ambients right now he has dropped it down to 2.6ghz while mine does 3ghz with 54 degrees@orthos

if you go for thermalright coolers, be aware that you have to buy a fan seperately which will add more to your budget...i guess that for dual cores, the ACF7 is a good budget buy
