Currently only products available here are,
Tobi garment steamer, Laxmi home appliance and a local eBay listing (may be Nova)
did anyone here using these? how it is compared to normal Iron.

I ordered Jiffy steamer which is very popular in US.
It should be arriving in India this week. The US price(+shipping) happens to be cheaper than the Indian distribution price.

Are they better than say a heavy duty steam iron, the expensive ones >3k INR. I have seen these being used in Shoppers Stop and Lifestyle. Does it make sense to use it in home.

I saw the concept of vertical ironing while in US. but did not buy anything from there.
After returning I purchased an high end iron with vertical steam and
it looked more like smoking rather than generating enough stream.

For comparison you can read several reviews in the Internet.
some factors,
-how easy for someone to use steamer than iron
-quality of the steam
-finishing of the cloth

I will post my comments next week, will be getting one tomorrow.

This looks interesting. I am really bad at ironing clothes and will definitely buy something like this if it makes the job easier for me.

@ssr

Waiting for your review.

@ssr

Waiting for your review.

I am also too bad at ironing.

Initial impressions

+,

-No need to worry about damaging cloths.

-No shiny spots (compared to regular ironing)

-Very quick and easy(at-least for the ppl who has trouble with regular ironing)

-Multipurpose, by using a different steam Nozzles this can also be used to remove wallpapers, stubborn stains during house cleaning.

-Takes about a minute to generate proper steam, Which is sufficient time for fetching all the cloths.

-,

-you will not be able to make lines.

-Stubborn lines can not be removed by steamer.

-For better results, Vertical board will be required for some of the cloths.

-The supplied vertical cloth stand is suitable only for the short ppl.

-More dangerous

-Takes more space

-Too costly to import the right steamer

For the ppl who know ironing, Forget Ironing for a moment.

Steamer is a complete different tech to use on cloths.

For best results, Steam must be sprayed inside the cloths.

There are many youtube videos on how to use steamer effectively.

I almost burnt my hands for the first two times while testing. But now I can steam without any problems.

One more advantage I found was I was able to steam the cloths immediately after taking the cloths from Washer and then left the cloths for regular drying.

Overall, I have not used Iron box from few weeks

I will update this post when I find more points
