Hey guys thanks for the suggestions for getting a BIG Geforce 6600 Gt.
However I have problems, BIG problems !
My old 300 W psu refused to work with the card so I had to shell out more money for a Powersafe 400W PSU. However the card still has the same problem.
It just refuses to continue after the Windows loading sign, it just shows a blank screen. I soon found out that when a CD is inside the CD drive,
it refuses to proceed. However if there is no CD inside it USUALLY works. Though even without a CD, it will sometimes randomly hang up or restart.
Also I checked Rivatuner and saw that there were options like 2d clock rates, low 3d clock rates and high 3d clock speeds, and the 2d clock speed was at 300 \1000 Mhz. Wasnt BIG Geforce 6600 Gt ram clocked at 900 Mhz ? Have I inadvertantly overclocked the card ? I am using Forceware 76.44 WHQL drivers.
What I want to know is have I wired the new PSU wrong ? I have put a direct line to the graphics card ( i.e. nothing else is attached ) . I have a line to the Hard disk and cabinet fan and another line on which the CD-RW and DVD ROM. Also I read on the net that you need a minimum 450 W PSU to use
a Geforce 6600 Gt ? Is that true.?
My system config is :
AMD 2400 + thoroughbred
ASUS nforce1
768 MB DDR ram (266 Mhz)
Lieton DVD ROM
Lieton CD - RW
Samsung 80 GB PATA HDD
Creative Live Soundblaster
400 W VIP Powersafe PSU
BIG Geforce 6600 GT
Could someone please tell me what I could do ? Should I return this card ?
