^^^Rightly said...i must know I have a cousin who is both deaf and 705% speaking impaired. She went ahead and done a degree in fashion technology and is learning photoshop/paintshop/3dsmax and a lot of stuff ON HER OWN!

I agree that arunhalo might be hearing impaired as his sentence formation is similar to my cousin's when she (tries somewhat successfully....which is amazing concidering she was 100% unable to speak) to speak english.
We must all encourage Arun for the effort he is putting. It is great to even try to do stuff like that and to try blend in.

Arun, dont loose heart and continue posting dude!

common guys u just cant make fun of someone who cant hear and is trying to do everything he can to make it less hurting. he tries to blend in, live a normal life, and Let him be.

there are sane people here who n certain posts acted completely "retarted" and what should we do to them? take a ticket and send them home? "No" its how we live ,adjusting, helping,atleast trying to help. and it doesnt matter if he is senior or not.

we all know how much udit enjoys being with us and we encourage him as much as we can, what if he types a few misspelled words? we'll denounce him? thats the case with arunhalo. ( udit i have no intention of hurting u, if u feel i've hurted u, im sorry)

teach him, make him better now thats a community, not to kick him in his butt cuz he cant type better. and this "i-know-english-im-better" thing should go. its we who cling on to English as if its our lifesupport, nobody else does this, except the
"great-civilized for 3000 year indians"

the bottom line is, this is a community, more a family where we need encouragement and help and support than anything else. so lets make this wat it always been.

@mods: there are those who are dedicated to make this site better(including you ofcourse), and we all feel the time is ripe to select the required mods, instead of complaining .

P.S: a few may remember my "Arora Cheating" story and i had a great help from the members and when i got back the money i posted here and received a million "im-happy-for-you" replies. u guys got no idea how happy i felt. and that goes for everyone.

I may be wrong (in which case my apologies to them) but from what I understand we are talking about persons who are "less gifted" - and if that is right, I on my part would tolerate anything from them, however meaningless or ill constructed, and be very patient and make it a point to interact with them even on "silly" stuff.

Being and ENT surgeon involved in rehabilitation of Deaf Mute persons, no one can understand their plight better.

So first i salute you Arun, dont be ashamed of your short comings and try to set goals and achieve them.

Regarding behaviour on forums it usually happens that people who are used to the environment may start taking it for granted that their opinion carries weight.

But with ignoring such remarks or polite explanation everything will be taken care of.

And another thing,
This is virtual world with people expressing their internet personality, they may be different in real life, so i will not make my opinion based on behaviour on forums.

So all should understand the virtual world accordingly.

If he was, then i think most of us are man enough to mention names. Most of you GUYS are good friends in the real world. Stop it. You GUYS are mature and we sure do act like one until now. Sharekhan was telling exactly the opposite. I think in order to have good communication, first we all need to put our egos aside. If you have issues, confront the person without putting him down. @Doc ---- I dont think Arun is actually deaf or anything (I certainly hope I am right). But his English is bad. I dont think he deserves to be mocked for that. I like arun only because he didnt get discouraged and run away. Today. most guys dont really make fun of him like what they used to do before.

Anyway, all I would like to say is that, whoever posts, whatever they post, dont say anything downright rude.

Each person is different. Something that is stupid and idiotic to you mioght make sense to him.

If you have nothing positive to say, dont say a damn thing. stay away from the thread.

i still remember the way some members here responded to his queries when plans were being made for a certain TE Chennai Chapter (now that sounds cooool ) trip to Mahabalipuram. People made an effort to utterly humiliate him in the open..

FYI, no one had any idea about his problem, i deleted 75% of posts, asked him through pm n number of times asking him to tell if he has any problem. Its only till aceman told me that his mom called him a day before the Mahabalipuram Trip and asked him to pick up arunhalo near tidel park (we missed him coz he was standing near ascendas) and also she told that arunhalo has hearing problem.

@others, if u don't like arunhalo's post,please report it instead of bashing him(this has hopefully reduced in recent days).

Also reg. most of the senior members who are inactive/left they became busy with their life, and we can't blame anyone for that.

knowing technical stuff and being worldly wise are 2 completely different things.. i think thats what Sharekhan was talkin abt wen he mentioned the 17-18... at the end of the day, its almost always gonna be the older guy thats been through more shit..

Though im going a bit off topic here, wanna say that the statement might not be entirely true. Even if the guy is older doesn't automatically mean he has been through more shit and has seen life much more than the other person. Though in general you might think a 17-18yr old will not be mature enough to understand or think like a 24-25 year old, that is not true for everyone. There are many who can infact come up with a better understanding of a certain subject because he can even if the other older guy has been through more 'shit'.

Anyway, regarding the topic, i think people should stay on topic here and not try and focus on certain incidents or members. The general trend in these feedback threads is that people just come out and post their opinions, whatever is on their mind just because they want to and it probably makes sense.. The fact still remains that you are not posting something related to what the discussion is all about in the first place! People do so cuz they'r like "..ah we'r talking about something so i might as well voice my opinion.." This causes lots of unwanted replies which eventually leads to the thread just fading away or getting locked cuz of a flame war or something

Oh Man!!!! :'( , I am one of the guys who used to ridicule arunhalo a lot and i never knew about his condition, he tried telling us in one of the threads as well, but was still not able to understand him(though never teased him after that) but now i am feeling very bad. And as many have said before, hats off to you Arun, man if you keep that spirit up like this all ur life, then theres nothing that will be able to stop you.

Well its a common myth that more older you get, more understanding power you get. Its just an underestimating trend. And the common factors are either being elder, senior member or spending lots of money on special items that gives a boost to the ego. Its not about spending money, its the fact that a lot of us have been here for a very long time, helped and learnt from countless individuals and then one fine day some newbie comes and starts making his claim to fame, posting non-sense and expects us to live with it. The moment we raise our voice against it, we have to face replies like "Be more courteous" or "Think what your posting dude". It happened in the Bose thread and its happened in other places, and at the end of the day, it makes us feel very pathetic because we've spent so much time on these forums and every one of us has contributed time and effort in making TE what it is today, and you people find yourself putting up your queries here because you know you'd expect replies.

As for venting out frustrations, that's highly untrue, we're here by choice and TE is not a very easy place to survive in once you get to know a lotta people. There are a lot of ego battles going on everywhere either indirectly on the forums or on the messengers and that's the reason why you see people leaving to rival forums.

Mods have nothing to do with a person's behaviour online.
Behave and save them the headache of cleaning up the place.

Though people can be totally different in both worlds, some people take advantage of the anonymity to spew venom and feel good.

Whatever u do online or off it- the individual is totally responsible for his/her behaviour.

You have to be your own mod when you speak/post.:cool2:

Others shouldn't take Frank/stark comments as flames.
Stating facts about something wrong in a not so dressed up fashion shouldn't be taken as flames.
The medium(IMs too) is rather dry and simple facts can sound harsh.
Use more smilies to break the ice.
Do not draw opinions about people from posts- be more open and neutral in your approach to anyone.

IIRC, this didn't happen so very often earlier, exp 2005 or early 2006.
So maybe something is amiss now and as most can see- most of the 20+ members are indeed busy and it is the years in college when we find most time to have a hyperactive online life.
Unlike some who have to bunk college not to relax but to finish assignments on time.:rofl:

If you read a few posts- some of them will ansewr why query threads get a lukewarm response.
The poster himself admits to just browsing already created threads and only posting queries.

About the XS remark- whenever anyone mentions that IP ban thing- no one is saying we are in that league.
The point to be noted is that TE is way more lenient than most forums are.
Those who are totally lenient end up like ... (you know what. )

So the KID actually made a simple, sensible/valid point but the older KID didn't get it- took it the wrong way.
So is it ego/'trying to have the last word/laugh' that gets in the way of understanding posts better in their truly implied meaning??
