Hello all

I have finally decided on a Dell Vostro 1400 with Intel 5470 Processor with 120GB HDD and 1 GB RAM with Windows Vista with Aero Home.

Should I upgrade to 2GB RAM or instead get a dedicated graphics card. Both cost nearly the same.

Also, should I get the glossy screen v/s the matte screen. I have heard that working in a car is not possible on glossy screen due to heavy glare from glossy screen.

My main use is office apps, browsing, mail, movies .

Thanks

You can pickup 2GB laptop RAM for the price of that graphics card(8600GT) i guess. In this case, it makes more sense to get graphics card than to upgrade memory to 2GB. If you are not happy with the memory performance, you can always plug in additional memory purchased locally ( if you have access to decent stores like in mumbai/delhi/hyd/bangalore/chennai etc.)

Hey even im buyin a vostro..Yet to come to a conclusion...

AS for your config...Ya at dat usage u'l need neither of them...
But as an added advantage u can keep d graphics card for occasional gaming cause its directx 10 card...

Reason:-1gb ram, u'l find, wud be more den enough for a blissfull vista aero experience...graphichs card wud really make dat config Kicka**.

and as Bulgene said u can upgrade ram any time later...
BUt not so for graphics card..
Choice is urs..If u can spare a few grants go for d graphics card...
