Hi Guys
at long last i am finally prepared to make my Mega Purchase

I am gonna buy the HD6850 :D

But i am kinda confused on which brand or model to buy, That's where i need your help

I am interested in the Sapphire 6850 reference card as listed here
Sapphire HD 6850 GDDR5 1GB Graphic Card ― Lynx - The Audio , Electronics And Computer Online Store In India
the price is below the 10k mark which is a relief:)
I am not buying online though, purchase will be made locally:neutral:

I need to ask you these questions
1)is it worth getting HD6850 over the HD5770? 1600x900 res
2)can i safely go for the brand Sapphire? (considering the recent 2 year-3 year warranty yo yo) does anyone have experience of Sapphire RMA?
3)should i consider the higher priced MSI HD6850? (higher by almost 1.3k)
4)Would this fit in my cabby CM310?

here's the rest of my Config in case you are interested
AMD ATHLON II X4 635 PROCCY
GIGABYTE 785GMT-US2H MOBO
CORSAIR 2X2 GB VALUE DDR3 RAM
CORSAIR VX450 PSU

MSI is available for 10200 MSI R6850 PM2D1GD5 Graphics Card. From a previous thread, people seem to be of the view that radeon 6870 will fall to 11000 in 3 weeks time. Also HD 6850 is better performance per dollar than 5770. You should go for a HD 6850 or 6870 :-

thanks for the reply Unixguru

but i am a bit confused about the Sapphire warranty

their site says 2 years SAPPHIRE- HOME

while a Few days back a TE dealer produced a letter from Akshay claiming 3 years comprehensive

To be on the safe side assume that Sapphire is only 2 years. More over in 2012 Windows 8 and DirectX 12 will be launched, and in all probability Xbox 720 will be launched with support for DirectX 12, so the games launched in 2012 will be the real "Crysis 2" and will probably run like a slideshow on 6850. So don't let the warranty deter you in going with a Sapphire card unless you are absolutely sure you will not upgrade in 2 years times.

so what real world price should i expect from the dealer for the Sapphire or MSI reference model?

considering that all the online Traders underquote their prices a bit

What is underquoting and stuff :P Lynx website prices should be added up with 5% tax. Whereas other sites like SMC, ITWares, ITBazaar etc... quote VAT inclusive prices.

Sapphire model should be ~ 9.7k-10k
MSI model should be ~ 10.2k-10.4k

Even that screenie doesnt says 3 years labor + parts. Currently they say they have 2 years labor+parts and 1 year labor only which they were conveiniently quoting as 3 yrs warranty :@

I'd say if you can wait 2-3 weeks, then wait for the prices to come down. Maybe if you increase your budget by 1-2k by that time you could get yourself 6870.

@DA

didn't some trader come up with a letter from Akshay or something?

is there anyway he can get in touch with him again and make "Doodh KA Doodh and Paani Ka Paani"? (roughly translated= giving us the clear and transparent picture)

no i think 6850 is quite enough for my 1600x900 res

so the lower it gets the better

Sapphire would have been done deal, but the Warranty confusion is really annoying

1) Absolutely

2) Get XFX dude, with their dual fans, it's one hell of a card(if it's available here)

3) nope, XFX

4) yes, the card is short, a bit longer than HD5770, shorter than HD5850 AFAIK.

More over in 2012 Windows 8 and DirectX 12 will be launched,

what?

btw, Win8 might come to tablets/smartphones as soon as end of 2011. PC is getting second choice here too. Man, what has come upon us. :D
