Getting crc mismatch error what to do

I have tron evolution setup which i installed and played on my machine without any hassle
but i gave the setup to my brother and he is getting "crc missmatch error" whenever he is trying to install the game
same thing is happening with black ops but black ops installed and ran fine on my machine
can anybody tell me what the prb is? and what is the solution? :(
 
Simple CRC error means Cyclic redundancy check errror. This means that either the setup file is corrupt of the source medium is corrupt.
If you are installing from a disc they it is quite possible that the disc is scratched. In that case, clean your disc with some cleaning agent. Also your ODD might be old and it may fail to read the source medium
 
its ur ram ... I had soo many crc errors while extracting and installing games ... it finally came down to my ram.. do memtest ... i bet it will go in an infinity loop at one stage :P
 
In most caes it is an issue with the ODD.My old LG drive used to throw this error a lot with DVDs burned at 16x but not with dvds burned at 8x or 4x.Check the dvd for scratches.This can also be a issue with old drives
 
yea its either ur disc drive or ur ram .. in my case it was both .. but ram was more faulty cos it gave errors while extracting rar files ..
 
i transfered that iso using my external hdd

first i thought i was due to my hdd

so i tried to copy the setup at another PC

no prb was there

so its not the external hdd
