Getting LCD from US

Hi,
Would it be easy to get a 19" LCD flat panel out of customs without paying duty at Mumbai airport ?

What does the rules say ? Any links to any sites about the same ?

ya easy to get. no probs what so ever.

i got my 20" vx2025 from singapore. just got the bill with myself. they scanned it & asked me the price. i told him it was under the allowed 25k & showed him the bill & he let me go.

only reason he stopped me was because the vx2025 box is all fancy with colors n all. a 19" samsung & vs that my friends bought were not even stopped. theirs was normal brown box.

or to have no fuss at all you can keep the LCD inside the suitcase and wrap some clothes around it....so that it is protected from shocks....but use this in extreme case

that is not necessary plus its risky.

its better to get it in the original packaging as its packed well with all the thermacol etc.

Very bad idea... you might find the lcd in two pieces when u land up here. Get it in the box... customs is never an issue . I got a 1300$ camera this time without paying any duty or bribes(which i'll never give in any case).
