I canged my plan from swift 1099 to 1 mbps UL on 21st they told me it will be activated on 24th so called them today and they tell me i have been shifted to 1 mbps plan today afternoon :S but i am getting only 1/2 the speed  they guy tells me it will be like that as their is a undersea cablecut and all will be well on 27th is anyone here on this 1mbps plan exp. the same:( ?

Usually the plans change at the end of a billing cycle (i dont remember what it is for airtel)

Also i am using night 1 mbps plan and wasnt getting those speeds for past two days but now its sorted since i complained to customer care.

However they did inform me that theres gonna be maintenance on their undersea cables till the 27th.

Call them & report it.. I was getting reduced speed on my Explore 1099 plan during night time (which should be 1Mbps) I filed a complaint & next day it was normal... :)

Even I was told about cable cut as reason but it was rectified in a day..

I just did the same change, don't go by their "within 72 hours" crap. It takes around a week. For me it did. I went through the same ordeal and kept calling 121 about it, but all they said was to restart my modem after an hour or so.

Just wait a week, then restart your modem. It'll change. If it doesn't even after a week, time to eat ACC heads.. :pP

^^Thanks for the reply guys :).

I am not on the Explorer plan but the other one(forgot the name) its Rs1699 plan .I reported the low speeds again today the guy gave me a complaint no. after a couple of hours my modem restarted by itself and bang i am getting 1 mbps:hap2:.

On torrents i get 110-120KB already downloaded a couple of movies and a documentary:eek:hyeah:.

BTW the airtel guy told me this plan has a fair usage policy and its limit is only 100GB,does this include upload too? how does airtel count this 100gb? is it only day usage or it includes the night usage too:huh:

It takes 72 hours for a plan change after you have sent them mail regarding the plan change - provided there is no public holiday or Sunday and if on Saturday it should be mailed before 6 PM (atleast this is what they told me.). After receiving the mail it is 72 hours and again the same conditions apply.

@HailStonE: I faced a similar problem, the speed would not change from 512 kbps to 1 mbps after 10 PM on 20th & 21st April. I sent a mail regarding it as well as filed a complaint over a phone. They have fixed it to some extent on 22nd. The speed switches after restarting the router post 10 PM, but a few sites like facebook, yahoo etc., seem slow. They didn't tell me the reason just that there was some back-end issue, I guess the undersea cable explains a lot.

@sam000 : FUP applies on both downloaded and uploaded data. So Beware.

AFA Airtel goes it takes them 2-3 days max to change plan. U can change plan exactly after 13 days multiple times in a month ;)
