Hi,

I'v started facing this problem recently.... The frames during game play get stuck every now & then.
I've been playing games like : GTA SAN ANDREAS, NFS ProStreet, OblivionIV
Could it be due to the reason that I've not formatted my system for long time now(like 2yrs or more) OR my system needs upgrade????

Need help !

Sys config:
AMD Athlon 64 3200+, BFG nvidia GeForce 8800 GT OC 512mb, Asus A8N SLI Deluxe, Corsair DDR 400Mhz 1024MB, seagate 500GB

1. Check if your processor or graphics card is not overheating first.

2. Reinstall your graphics card drivers.

3. Check for spyware/adware/viruses. A system format would eliminate this if it aint a hardware/driver issue.

Oh my... :O

That CPU is proving to be an awsum bottleneck for ur gfx card!! :(

I realised the sheer difference when I'd my old 7900GT on an A64 939 3500+ and switched to a friend's C2D 6420!!

I can guarantee u a very notable difference if u switch to the current dual cores from either AMD or Intel;

Dont tell us u happened to run Crysis on that system;

Thanks!!

>>>>Processor is around 47C, not sure about GPU temp though.

What would be the normal range????

2. Reinstall your graphics card drivers.

check for any running background processes try to disable all unwanted background processes memory managers other software running in tray .i used to have same problem it turned out to be a software running in my tray.

Nah! I don't think that's the issue 'cause there's hardly anything there
Thanks anyways!

You could try for an Opteron but these models are outdated... Try changing your motherboard(for X2) or overhauling to Intel C2D :)

i think its a driver issue as already some members have mentioned....
have u used driver cleaner or driver sweeper ( from guru3d.com)??

give a try n report back...

Also defrag ur hrad disk and run windows update...
(best is format if u have not done it in last 1 + year)

Do you mean to say that all these were working fine till recently ? My first thought was a fresh OS install and the same was confirmed from your last line. I do agree with what the others say in that the 3200+ is a bottleneck for the 8800GT, but you should try a fresh install before thinking of changing the proccy / platform :)

It is obvious that he did not have this problem with the same setup untill recently. So, it has got to be either some overheating or in all probability it's just his windows installation .

I can imagine how a 2 year old install feels ......i had this friend of mine who got a compaq persario in 2002 , and he was so scared of messing things up that he never did a clean install ...kept the XP home that was bundled untill his HDD crashed last year . It was such a torture to have to do anything on that PC .

So neerajsh, just try a clean install and check for overheating . Hopefully your problems will be solved.

PS: Don't forget to back up the savegames :ohyeah:

Well... I've finally formatted my system, there is no significant improvement.
I checked the heating with nTune
MB : 42C
CPU : 45C
GPU : 64C (when Idle)
: ~70C (while playing NFS ProStreet)

It seems its the CPU causing the problem
Could it be RAM as well ???
