TechEnclave in association with GIGABYTE presents GOOC 2010’s India Country Qualifier!

gooc2010techenclave.jpg

How will the qualifying work

  • The qualifying will start on April 16 and end on May 15 at 00:00 (GMT+5.5)
  • The qualifying will be online only. Competitors will run a series of benchmarks and depending on their score will be awarded points for having a top 5 result.

Prizes are as follows:

  • 1st Place: Trip for one overclocker to compete in GOOC Regional final in Indonesia on 19th June. (4 Day 3 night events, all expenses paid) – (one person)
  • 2nd Place: X58A-UD7 Motherboard
  • 3rd Place: P55A-UD7 Motherboard

Since GIGABYTE has realized that many overclockers will not be able to do “extreme cooling” (LN2 / Dry-Ice / Liquid Cooling) and stand a chance to win the TOP prize. GIGABYTE has decided to give away GIGABYTE GA-P55-USB3 Motherboard to the best overclocker with highest combined score using only “air cooling”.

Prize for Best Air Overclocker is as below:

  • 1st Prize: P55-USB3 Motherboard.

.

Benchmarking and Scoring

  • Competitors will need to run the following benchmarks
    • SuperPi 1M
    • Wprime 32M

    .
  • Points will be awarded as follows.
    • 1st place - 10 points
    • 2nd place - 8 points
    • 3rd place - 6 points
    • 4th place - 4 points
    • 5th place - 2 points

Winners will be the best overclockers with highest sum of points.

Hardware restrictions

  • Motherboard must be from the X58 or P55 chipset of GIGABYTE brand.
  • CPU brand must be Intel.
  • Hard drive brand must be Seagate.
  • No i7 Gulftowns and i7 OR i5 based Xeons.
  • No engineering samples may be used.

Qualifying rules & restrictions

  • General Rules
    • All submissions must be accompanied by a screenshot as well as a link to a valid hwbot submission. (Results submitted before 00:00 but not yet checked on Hwbot will be given time to get validated).
    • In the event of a tie the person with the lowest SuperPi 1M score will be crowned champion.
    • Competition is open to residents of India only. You must be living in India at the time of the qualifying.
    • In line with hwbot rules the following is also not allowed, any user will be removed immediately when caught.
    • Any software or human interaction altering the perceived speed of the benchmark program, tricking it to believe it ran faster
    • Wireframe hacks: any software or driver causing a benchmark program not (properly) render the textures or calculate the numbers.

    .
  • Screenshot Requirements

Damn wow!! :O Thank you very much Gigabyte and TE. :hap2:

Someone please lend/sponsor me some h/w for this and also teach me how to OC. :gap:

No rules with regard to the cooling? As in only air like the previous time?

So the genius who uses LN2 wins. Nothing related to optimising the results then. ):

Gigabyte has never had any such restriction of only air AFAIK.

BUT

these online competitions for GOOC2010 are going on/done already in 10 other countries at the least and none of them had mobo limitation of only Gigabyte, so that is pretty sad...

Edit : It would also have been good if the rules would have been shown to Harshal, the rules pasted on the thread are Hwbot 3d benchmark rules....not to nitpick but

* All submissions must be accompanied by a screenshot as well as a link to a valid hwbot submission. (Results submitted before 00:00 but not yet checked on Hwbot will be given time to get validated). (hwbot doesnt have any sort of validation)

* Wireframe hacks: any software or driver causing a benchmark program not (properly) render the textures or calculate the numbers.(useless hack for 2d benchmarks

hey, somebody lend me some liquid Nitrogen, an expensive motherboard to fry and an insanely expensive processor.

... And while you're at it, could you set up the rig for me ?

You plan to use Venomous or DH14 to beat the representatives of 34 countries in the Final event???

Why do you respond like some jerk? You could have avoided this statement and said the rest. Show off your skills on this event rather!

I mentioned only air since that reminded me of THL's contest and GOOC did not click me.

So you accept that your comment was out of place, some1 pointing out your out of place comment is a jerk???

(hwbot doesnt have any sort of validation)
(useless hack for 2d benchmarks)
+1
SuperPi generates a checksum that can then be validated.
Wasn't aware of the "gigabyte mobo. only!" rule not applying for other countries. Why is this so?

It seems they have a cylinder for anyone who wants to refill LN. Check the 2009 event pics.

^Do not try this at home! ^^

If Gigabyte is sponsoring the #1 winner's trip to the GOOC regional finals, apart from the other prizes, the least they can expect that participants use only Gigabyte mobos. :)

I would have done the same- nothing wrong with that imho.

You think Gigabyte will provide Asus mobos to participants at the GOOC finals or AOCC will have Gigabyte mobos?

In hindsight, they may also be doing damage control for the participants. :P

How you ask?

Well, if someone fooks up their mobo at home, there is atleast hope of getting it rmaed as the local Gigabyte ASS has been quite good till date- touchwood.

Now think of some other mobo and having to approach, Rashi, Tirupati, Top Notch, etc for rma. :death:

All the best to Amey sir, Apollyon sir, Shripad sir, Banik, Toolius(?), Roboghost(?). :hap2:

Can't recollect any more names at the moment. :)

Don't think I would be participating thanks to work and some other project that is going on which takes up a lot of my time :)

Best Of Luck once again Banik,Shripad,Harshal and all others who would be participating

Im too into this ,but im just limited to just air ;) ,no ln2 pots

So is any one into LN2 ??? ............ any one

How to post results ?
