As per my limited experience, Vista 32 is better, I know it sounds strange but thats what my own experience tells me, infact vista 32 is faster than win7 32/64 in most benchmarks apart from a few 3d
Yes, Vista 32 was faster for me as well in ~ wPrime and only one 3D bench!

As for XP to Vista, formatting the drive for initial runs just bit too much :P

Damn nice score Toolius, so another Indian joins the LN2 club, :hap2:, that board deserves a 661/670, comeon they are not so costly afterall, :P

Time till next weekend, hopefully would be able to arrange a mobo by then....

Thank you very much :)
yep another indian bit the bullet ! finally got my hands dirty..errr or should i say cold :)
I had a brilliant time playing with ln2 and this stuff is addictive.. lol
I wish i could get a 661/670 but got tight finances this month :(
having my car looked after and she has sucked me dry !! lol

P.S congrats on the 980 and the classy.. time for some serious Hwbot damage i think :P

awesome score there toolie :D
which OS for the wprime run? iirc win7 gives a better score?

WOW.. Thank you sir apollyon !!!
This is a honor :)
You , Harshal , Amey , Darky , Thebanik etc are the reason i even started benching. You guys showed me where there is a will there is a way regardless of the restrictions and stuff we have living in india.
So thank you everyone !! You guys are truly inspirational !!

Both super-pi and wprime were on win xp sp3 sir..Didnt have the time/ln2 to format-install-tweak vista so just settled for winxp. Should have bought 2 hdd's in hindsight. Live and learn i guess :(
Im just happy im not a sub zero virgin anymore ..rofl :ohyeah::hap2::P
Thanks again sir !
Cheers everyone and kind regards :)

Tool, you said it correctly!

People will say Darky = Amey But I dont think so...

Darklord is still has an awesome fan following (including me ) while Amey, I dont know and dont care about

The first post has been updated.
The major change is this.

Since GIGABYTE has realized that many overclockers will not be able to do “extreme cooling†(LN2 / Dry-Ice / Liquid Cooling) and stand a chance to win the TOP prize. GIGABYTE has decided to give away GIGABYTE GA-P55-USB3 Motherboard to the best overclocker with highest combined score using only “air coolingâ€.

Prize for Best Air Overclocker is as below:
  • 1st Prize: P55-USB3 Motherboard.
.

Banik, That date cant be changed. I know we all would have liked a little bit more time with this to get the best results out but that's how these things are, always against us.

Now its a shame that only two are taking part... What happened to rest of the guys.??

But if it stays as it is, then i might as well submit my stock score, without OC..

Thanks for support. Hope others will do same with mild OC. :hap2:

Hmm, could have done a mild overclock on my i5 +Gigabyte P55 UD4P but saw the HDD restriction now! Awww.. My two Hdds are WD! :(

hehehehe, time is always against us it seems,

Finally got a Giga mobo, but I dont think I can push this thing much further on air and dont even have a working AC in the room, not putting LN2 on it because in any case having a problem with my Passport/Visa. I dont believe that why we have such a low turnout, really disappointing....Harshal, I see you already have got some damn decent scores, :P, why arent you putting them here, :P

Leaderboard updated, here is the hwbot link,

thebanik's 5sec 787ms wPrime 32m run with Core i7 930 @ 4400MHz

thankfully harshal is a marshal this time @ gooc :ohyeah: so he cannot participate

Thats not fair, I have seen top overclockers helping to manage the competition and then participating in them as well.....

For those who arrived late, especially only due to the recent announcement of a prize for those on air-cooling,

i hope you'll know that the final platform for final scores has to be constant, afaik.

i.e.

step 1 - decide if using P55 or X58

step 2 - decide which chip

step 3 - post benchmarks for pi 1M and wPrime 32M using the same setup of mobo+cpu.

I am not sure if the OS used for both the benchmarks has to be the same too.

i.e. one may have as many trial runs at their end as they like to select a suitable mobo/chip and that need not be declared but final submission has to be using one setup for both benchmarks, as far as i have understood.

eg. If we choose P55M-UD2 and i5 650, i should post benchmarks for pi and wPrime using the same components.

We cannot change mobo model to something else or cpu to 661 or something for the other benchmark.

If we change anything, say mobo/cpu model or change platform to X58, then both the benchmarks have to be submitted from the newer setup.

Final scores will be calculated from the respective individual scores from the same setup.

Benchmark screenies need to be similar to the sample posted by Harshal >

http://www.techenclave.com/1487820-post50.html

Final scores need to be submitted in the benchmark results leaderboard section for GOOC> http://www.techenclave.com/gooc/submit-your-benchmark-results-165768.html

Just need a clarification about the end time for submission, its mid-night Tomorrow ???

YES, it ends by Midnight tomorrow!
Good luck to all who are aiming to win or loose by enough margins for the boards!!

:hap2:
@ Bikey, thanks for explaining it nicely. :ohyeah:

Sorry, I was cought up with work. :ashamed:

Bikey, the reason I submitted the P55 score was because that was one of the unused ss I had left from one of my earlier run on UD4P, and there were no submissions happening(and didnt have a giga mobo then). It doesnt conform to the submission rules and hence already told Harshal to remove the P55 result instead of the x58 one. Will submit superpi air result later today.........

Though I agree, I didnt even know about the no-switch rule, thanks for explaining that, :)
