The original God of War was an action gaming masterpiece from start to finish. Its Greek mythology-derived storyline, blanketed with larger-than-life set pieces and timeless characters and themes, provided the perfect backdrop to an incredibly intense and engaging action romp. We dubbed it our pick for not only Best Action Game but overall Game of the Year for 2005, and to this day it stands as one of, if not the greatest, action games ever released. Though Kratos wound up sitting atop his throne as the God of War at the first game's finale, his tale was far from over. God of War II picks up right where the original left off and follows the anti-hero on his continued path of revenge

Bad copy. I had to buy an original copy of GoW to get around that level.

I heard there was a fix for it, don't throw away the copy yet, I'll post it here when I find it.

I fnished the game twice...couldnt play it it god mode though..it was way too tough. But definately one of the best games I have ever played, I just cant wait to play GOW2 :D

I finished it once. Then played the GOD mode for a few days, finished half of the game, then my controller pissed off and i left the game.

Its gets a 9.75/10 from Gameinformer :

Game Informer Online

As giants drop like flies, and the inhabitants of Olympus are subject to unthinkable pain and suffering, gamers are treated to one of the most ferociously entertaining adventures to date. In God of War II, we learn that you should never underestimate the wrath of a fallen god. If you thought that Kratos had some issues before, just wait until you see how he reacts when he is stripped of his powers. With his intensified rage comes an influx of unforgettable moments. I continually found myself thinking that I had to play through the game again to see Kratos’ barbaric actions for a second time. The gameplay, which is greatly enhanced by Kratos’ angst, is a razor-sharp package that will put a grin on your face. The puzzles are more ingenious, the combos are more devastating, and the bosses fall even harder. God of War II will surely put a nefarious smile on your face, but the experience is humbled in a number of ways. The story lacks the big reveals of the first, and far too many enemy types are recycled. With this said, however, God of War II is impossible to put down, and easily one of the best games to date.

In March, its Spartan Fever all around!

I have come across some pics and artworks that i haven't seen before.
Warning, the screens reveal a gameplay mechanic.
Deadalus & Icarus - background info

The first name of Icaria was Dolichi but through Greek mythology it became connected to Ikarus, the first man who succeeded to fly and commemorates his fall. According to myth Daedalus, a famous craftsman, was a prisoner of Minos, the King of Crete. In an attempt to escape, he made two sets of wings, one for himself and one for his son, Ikarus, and attached them with wax. Together they secretly flew away, heading towards Athens. Out over the sea, near Ikaria, Ikarus, became excited by the view, flew too close to the sun with the result that the wax melted and he plunged into the sea and drowned. Thereafter, the sea named after him, Ikario Pelagos and the island was named Ikaria.

Kratos with his own wings attachment (he probably lend from someone ^^)

Well, and those screens must be from the lava titan setting that is pictured in this poster motive:

Seems like Kratos is going to land on the lava rock which is hold by the titan. I also think that in the process of landing his wings gonna get destroyed because of the wax (that holds the wings together) getting soft due to the increasing heat being emmited from the lava rock as the distance gets closer between incoming Kratos and the hot surface. Well, just a suggestion...

Wow, awesome game concept art there. Where did you get them from? I'm pretty sure they'll end up being bonuses to unlock.

And here's some news on the hype :
