I am going BSNL data one very son... Maybe in couple of days... Any heads up... I would be installing it myself... Dont wanna pay those suckers 500 bucks for installation...

hehe..u'll definely curse BSNL for the dl limit :P

u HAVE to pay them 500.....for putting cables, etc. so, no escaping 500 :ohyeah:

spare 500 bucks for them as it is essential to get your line checked for data transfer capabilities. if you do not want that option will put you in jeopardy as they will not check the line and you may not be able to get online.

my friend got the same trouble and then he had to call them back and they found his line was not proper they rectified it and then he was able to get online.

our copper cables are good for voice but if they slightest of grounding, earthing or some damage to the cable it will not let the data circuit from your pc to exchange complete and may cause troubles, so it is better to get it installed by them.

i am too waiting for my conn and i may get next week or so.

The unlimited downloads early bird offer is over, and if u guys get it now will u get the same offer?

Or for those who registered b4 31th of last month?

well..i had registered in jan itself, still no connection :damn:

Dont woory about the unlimited offer as i registered in Jan itself. The called me few days ago to get it at my premises. I now have to give a thought about paying Rs 500. BTW should i rent out the modem or i should buy it cause i would be going Airtel after this for sure...

hmm...see this...
Yes they initially charge 500/- but then one has to shed 100/- pm as modem rental and 500/- installation

One year cost calculation:
Installation= 500/-
Modem rental 12x100= 1200/-
+Service Tax(500+1200)x10.2%= 173.4/-
TOTAL.................................................= 1873.4/-

Even after paying this amount we do not own the modem :(

So if u wanna have for a long period of time then go get one or rent it.
As far as the modem for airtel and bsnl is concerned, airtel uses USB modem and not the lan card modem (but mask says they have a plan which uses it)...

So they give you a normal modem or a router modem... if they are giving the router modem than i might buy it... But then router modem only comes in handy when you have multiple pcs...
