I want a desktop replacement which I am willing to lug around for 2 years. Too much traveling. Cannot afford to put up money for LCD's, consoles etc and keep selling. I had a Acer Aspire S7, which my brother eldest brother is trying to use. .

What do you think of the brand? Customer Service? Worth the money? Any other worthy items to check out?
I am not finding much review. Customization is what pulled me towards XoticPC and Sager.

sager's good jeri, something ive been considering aswell. havent looked into the aorus x7? msi gs60 ghost? mostly most configureable pcs are all based on the clevo platform and sager's been a good brand so ur not goin wrong with what u need. cyberpower pc? alienware maybe? lol how much time to they take to build n ship?

Well.. I am kinda OK with bulk. but I detest LED's and 100 million color combo etc. So Alienware is anyways out. I dunno. This is such a niche segement. Scouring the web for more info. I saw Aorus. Thought it was some knockoff like Micromax.

Aorus looks like slim and cutesy. That also means less powerful innards or less future upgrade options. Something I loved about sager. I am coming from Acer Aspire s7 . Ain't no body like that. Also, TOO EXPENSIVE. Crossing 2k mark. No way.

Let me know what all things you looked and considered. Pour in the info.

aorus is made by gigabyte bro, not bad at all. one of the thinnest sli based laptops available right now. check out the unboxing. and u do know u can switch those leds off in most of the gaming laptops right hahaha

yea sager is the most bang for the buck. i think just zoom into a chassis u like and build something round it. id suggest getting the maximum resolution possible and ram aswell. some models r coming with a 3k res option. will push ur budget slightly but worth it imho if ur gonna keep it 2 years

3k? in a 17"? . 1080p in my 24" Monitor has me squinting sometimes. . So dunno if I should go all out. Anyways I am going to the Aorus review. Impressive.

but don't u think the card offered is inferior. Battery life is not worth it. and Screen is getting bad rating. :S. Also. its slim, but whats the point if its ~2.X kg? Its like not here or there.

the card will eat the 860m, the 880 or the 870m r the ones to get, this new chip only has better battery life. in a desktop replacement which will most be plugged in all the time, i doubt ur looking @ crazy battery times.. yes they r old but its still a laptop to consider in and around price range, but since ur keeping this laptop for the long term .. i think going for the latest spec makes sense. stick with sager, better and cheaper upgrade options.

I don't see why. It's been years since I crossed even 50gb on my c drive for a personal PC. I think. Anyways 2 1 tb 7200rpm disks are there for normal data load. The price is tipping a bit over my budget range. Will post the configuration as soon as I finalize.

If you are into Sagers, I would recommend building one from Mythlogic.
Nearly a year ago, I was looking to get one and after extensive research found that these are the guys worth buying from. I didn't end up buying one but they are the best in this business and work directly with Clevo including even writing custom BIOS for the machines. I had a few email convos with them and they are quick to reply and super knowledgeable.

Nice rig man. The top cards are always insanely expensive than the second to top cards, so you made a good choice with the 870. IMO, it is always better to splurge on the graphics card 2 years down the line as they are the one component that is easy to upgrade on these machines.

Mythlogic are more expensive but that is because their support is legendary.
They also have this Phoenix program where they upgrade your components if you feel the need down the line at factory prices. So getting a GPU upgrade from them later turns out cheaper and they also test it properly and even write custom bios if needed for the upgrade.

OK people. So i am planning to get this rig by next month 15th. I want to settle few things before that.

Bu I have a dilemna now. I love the specs in the Sager laptops. But the Industrial Design leaves me un satisfied. I need looks. Good looks. . So it made me go through other models. Picked a Asus G750 JS and configured it a bit. A bit expensive by around 200USD. But it gives me 3 year Global warranty and a default OS Win 8.1. Although I have many OS license from my ACM and MSDN account.

Storage is only 1 TB instead of 2 TB. But the OS drive is a 256GB SSD.

the Gfx card is 870M 3GB with Asus. With Sager its a 6GB 870M one.

Aren't the Asus range known to have poor heat dissipation. I don't know about the latest offerings but earlier models were known to suffer from throttling due to heat issues.

Yes, Global warranty is a major plus but don't know if they will even have the parts to repair/replace in India and that would mean long wait times if something were to go wrong.

If looks are what you want, won't a custom paintjob on the lid be better. That is unless you are talking about looks from a different perspective.

Sometimes you get exactly what you are looking for over there cheaper. Especially if Wingnut or someone is selling their review rig.

Also when I was building my rig, I used to skip getting the RAM and SSD/HDD from them but that was because I had plans to use the laptop in India. For this reason alone, I used to look at the barebones available at RJTech.
