71-90K Good build laptop with decent screen

Budget: Preferably around 80k, but can go upto 1L if theres a good reason.
Usage: Mostly will sit on a table at home, but will need to travel with it around once a month. Will be used mostly for office work and browsing.
Size/Weight: Preferably a 13"-15".
Brand Pref: Nothing really, just need it to NOT be a mac. Have had decent experiences with Dell so far

Other Prefs:
1. Since its going to be stationery most of the time, would a removable battery be a good idea ? so i just plug it in as use off the power cord. Will this help extend the battery health ?
2. Looks are VERY important, im shallow that way. Build quality of the XPS made me buy one in the past. A good screen would be great for long work hours.
3. Dont need a CD drive.

Whatever you do, do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT buy a Lenovo Ideapad. The WORST experience so far. After blowing up 51K on a machine, the WiFi not working, and now the f!@king @$$h0les want me to repair it inspite of have an almost DOA piece.

Just purchased lenovo Ideapad Y500 yesterday.

Did u call the Toll free number?
There is also special toll free number for think series and idea series respectively, there is a manufacturing defect in y500,it comes with an ELAN touchpad which is buggy(knew of this problem before purchasing) .. So i called the toll free number and registered a complaint.. My touchpad is being replaced with a synaptics one.. Within 2days...


@OP check out lenovo Ideapad Y500, has an ultra bay feature too, also has a full HD screen.
 
Upto 70K, there is nothing that beats the Y500 in terms of specs --> Ultrabay and 650M. However, do have a look at the Dell 15R with FHD.
 
You want a good looking ultrabook for office work etc and dont want a mac then the best options for you are:

1. Samsung series 9
2. Asus Zenbook
 
As for the battery health, you can also select the always on AC option wherein it does not charge the battery to more than 50%. I have this option on the VAIO.
 
laptop for 80k, just for office work and browsing :wideyed:

I didnt know we had this option. My laptop is connected to power source 99.999% of the times.
 
I think it is a fairly simple choice - Thinkpad X1 Carbon. Preferably Touch but I don't think that is available in India. With Windows 8 touchscreen laptops are awesome, but office work is one area where touch is not of much use yet, so the non-touch should serve you fine. It might be on the upper limit of your budget, but well worth it. Only thing, the display is not as brilliant as the high-end IPS/PLS panels offered in Zenbook Prime, Series 9 or Acer S7, but it is pretty good nevertheless.
